Seeing the animation of the rolling roof in ZepSinger's thread makes me wonder what the majority thinks of this issue. Are you a fan of this roof idea in general, or just to land a once-in-a-lietime chance at getting a Super Bowl in KC? Or should the complex be left alone?

Poll to follow.

Jackson County commisioners are idiots that can't be trusted. But what are you going to do? You can't get rid of them then have an election to save the Chiefs. Never happen.

The tax target is squarely on my back.

I'm a Jackson County Resident.

I work in Kansas City, Mo.

I'm a Chiefs season ticker holder.

Lamar wants the rolling roof. The city wants the Super Bowl.We are stuck with the idiot commisioners and this vote to save our Chiefs. If this vote fails the Chiefs will be gone in 10 years from the Truman Complex.

I didn't vote yes for Bi-State2 because it was a bad plan and I don't like all of the proposals and ideas in this one but its all we got to work with to save the Chiefs and Arrowhead.

I'm going to vote yes on this proposal.

Renovate or rebuild? I would say rebuild. Numbers I have seen and heard over the past 10 months do not make renovation look like that great of an idea.

What I have read the want 250 million for the royals, and 325 million for the chiefs.

Now does the above cost include the roof?

If not this is a bad plan

The Colts are building a new retractable stadium that is costing 500 million.

If I were a KC resident, I'd rather see a plan that gets the Royals 250 M for improvements, and a new stadium for the Chiefs that can actually be used for conventions, final fours, and the Super Bowl. Note this Roof with panels to enclose the old arrowhead.

Ok so I see on the star that the Roof will cost 200M

So the total cost of the project with roof would be 775M

Which is enough to build a new Stadium for the Chiefs and 250 M at Kaufmann would do a lot. They don't need the roof.

Each Team should still shell out the 100M they have been talking about.

That is the other thing that ticks me off. The teams pay 100 mil? Thats IT!!!! The Chiefs are cheap and the Royals are putting their money to the wrong thing, i.e. talent on the field. Hell, the Royals payroll is only somewhere between 60-70 mil. What the hell?

Correct me if I am wrong...but wasn't the original plan to have a rolling roof? I was around back then...but still somewhat young and I don't remember the details, but I coulda swore that was part of it.

That being said, I am not much for it...but to be honest (or maybe just a wus) the days I am scraping ice off my seat to sit down, it sure would come in handy.

This really is the problem...corruptness made the last proposal a joke, and I blame no one for voting against it...I am concerned this might happen again and, as a net result, we loose the Chiefs out of Jackson County.

This is just another in a long line of poorly conceived plans by the Jackson County Executive and Sports Authority. Incompetence and corruption have a way of screwing things up.

The $800 million plus price tag for this project only extends the current lease about 15 years. It makes no sense to operate this way when you can build two new stadiums (one with a retractable roof) for $800 million to $1 billion and lock the teams into longer term deals.

This really should be turned into a bi-state issue. Build a baseball park downtown where its 81 games per year can help with the current growth in that area. Build a new Arrowhead with a retractable roof on the site of the old Kaufman. Give Kansas a soccer complex where the Wizards can play, and move the Chiefs training camp to Kansas to throw in an extra bone. Keep the proposal simple - don't add the arts or other items that will only confuse the issues.

Agreed. REBUILDING is the smart plan, IMO. Spending as much as a NEW stadium and only having a guarantee of 15 years on the lease is foolish and waste of money.

as an out of towner, I think the two best options are:

1) Build a new baseball stadium downtown and do the mega-rennovation to Arrowhead

2) Build a new baseball stadium downtown and a new football stadium by the speedway because the sports complex is in the ghetto and there is NOTHING to do around there.

leaving the baseball stadium at its current location is stupid, IMHO.

I agree. If we are going to be in the business of giving hand outs to millionaire owners, the community should at least get something out of it. The only place that truely happens is downtown.

I'm actually starting to like the idea of football out by the racetrack. The current location really couldn't suck more.

Are the people who are wanting the stadiums out by the race track from Kansas? My guess would be yes they are. I wonder where you people were when the stadiums were built in Jackson Co. Kansans did not have to pay for them, but they sure can reap the benefit of what someone else did. The first thing is to keep the teams, and that means keep them in Missouri. These people that want them moved do you believe that Arrowhead is not one of the best stadium's in the league or not? I am tired of this argument about moving the baseball stadium to downtown or the Chiefs to Ks. Just like Kevin Keitzman you can accept the benefit that Jackson County has provided, but by god when the time comes to gripe about how the benefit has been or is going to be provided, you find every oppurtunity to be condescending and critical. I hope the Chiefs or the Royals never go to Kansas. The stadiums are fine and will be even better if the are refurbished, so leave it alone.
