Concert/Music DVD's your recommendations

I thought we had a thread like this sometime ago but I'm having no luck finding it.

Anyhow, within the last year I've really gotten into music/concert dvd's and am always looking to add more to the collection.Would like to know what you have seen or own that you would recommend.

TIA

I got one for my birthday last week that is surprisingly good; Three Dog Night live in Tennessee. I was a pretty big fan back in the early 70's. The 2 remaining vocalists still sound pretty amazing, considering they're probably in their 60's by now. Not bad at all...

Cinderella - Rocked, Wired & Bluesed
Got it for christmas and watch something on it almost every damn day

Gun's N Rose's UYI tour 2 cd set.
Possibly Axl's best show ever caught on film.

AC/DC Live at Donnington
Just 3 chord rock, but man they do a wicked show.

Already mentioned, but I liked the Iron Maiden set, The new AC/DC set with all their "made for TV" videos, and any Motley Crue!!

Does the Cinderella DVD have music vids, or is it a concert DVD. I am looking for the "Somebody Save Me" music video with the band in the studio at the first of the song, and morphing into the live set, and at the end is Jon Bon Jovi and Ritchie Sambora "stealing" the Cinderella girls! lol Does the DVD have that vid on it by chance????

If for nothing else any rock music fan should check this out just to see Tom Petty & Bo Diddley on stage together at The Fillmore jammin' to Diddley's Mona.It was the highlight of the disc for me.

Other than that it's a good concert spanning songs throughout Petty's career(18 in all). There's nothing flashy about the show in itself,it's just a good kick back and enjoy the music dvd. There's even a 3 song Petty acoustical set.

The only two minor gripes I have about the dvd are the director used clips from load-out and in and around The Fillmore before each and every song and to me it got a little old.Other than that,I would've liked to have seen a 2 hour plus show because Petty's library is so extensive and there are more than a few great songs that he didn't play.

FYI for Vedera fans (fka VEDA)

They are playing tonight (2/9) at the Bottleneck in Lawrence. Doors open at 6 pm.

This is their only stop close to KC on their current tour. After this they are off north toward Minnesota, swing back down the east coast and then to Florida.

Not sure when they are playing in KC again, but when they do, I'll let you know.

I'll have to look for that! I love BG! I saw them in December '03, with Symphony X opening for them, here in St. Louis (Sauget, IL, actually). They put on a great show.

Others I highly recommend:

Iron Maiden: Rock in Rio
Rush: Grace Under Pressure tour (very hard to find, but it shows up on Ebay once in awhile)
Rush: A Show of Hands
Alice Cooper: The Nightmare Returns (Constrictor tour)
Alice Cooper: Trashes the World
Nightwish: From Wishes to Eternity
Judas Priest: Priest Live (Turbo tour)
Styx: Caught in the Act
Triumph: Live at the US Festival
Def Leppard: In the Round, In Your Face Live
Motley Crue: Carnival of Sins (2005 reunion tour) -- I haven't seen the dvd yet, but I saw the live show, and it was amazing.

*I haven't seen Rush's "Rush in Rio" or "R30" yet, but I can imagine they are pretty amazing. I saw Rush live on the same tour during which they filmed the Rio concert, though, when it came through St. Louis.

If you like Alice In Chains even a little bit then the Unplugged DVD is a must. Those guys did a damn fine job that night.

Clapton's Unplugged was also pretty good.

I'm crying tears of jealousy. Blind Guardian and Symphony X at the same show?!? I would have punched old people to go to that.

If you like BG, you'll probably like Demons & Wizards. Have you heard them? Awesome! It's Hansi Kursch (from BG) and Jon Schaffer (from Iced Earth). Really, really good stuff. They've got two albums out that I know of.

And if you like Symphony X, check out Arjen Anthony Lucassen's Star One "Space Metal." It's a supergroup featuring Arjen (Ayreon), "Sir" Russell Allen (Symphony X), Floor Jansen (After Forever), and a couple other vocalists whose names momentarily escape me. All the songs are based on famous sci-fi movies, except for "Intergalactic Space Crusaders" (the rockingest song on it), which is based on a British sci-fi series, and the opening track "Set Your Controls" which is not based on anything but instead serves to introduce the theme of the album. The featured films include Star Wars, Star Trek IV, 2001: A Space Oddyssey, and Stargate, among others. Incredible music!

Oh, and if you're interested, Children of Bodom will be here March 30th.

Oh yeah, I've got all of those.
Star One is good stuff, as usual from Arjen Luccassen. Damian Wilson and the amazing Dan Swano are the other vocalists on there. I've also got Demons & Wizards two albums, self titled and "Court of the Crimson King." In fact, I might listen to "Blood on My Hands" and the incomparable "Fiddler on the Green" right now.

Yeah, "Fiddler on the Green" is one of their best, along with "Blood on My Hands," and "Damian." I also edited my previous post, but in case you didn't see it before you posted, Children of Bodom will be playing St. Louis on March 30th. I don't know if you get into them, but they'll be at Pop's in Sauget, IL, just across the river. I don't know if they'll be hitting the KC circuit or not.
