Any Powerpoint pros here?
I have a preso on one powerpoint document and a preso on another and I need to put the Template on the preso.

God I miss having a tech guy around.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

haven't done much in a while which version of Powerpoint. My 2003 has Tools menu compare/merge persentations.

By template do you mean common powerpoint look that all are built from....
Your Company logo/ font size/style etc....

Merge should do that I'm guessing.

Powerpoint 2000. We are about o replace everything by the end of this week I just have a preso Thursday I need to have ready to roll.

BIG DADDY I use PP to teach with...but I don't use all the templates. I customize more since I'm a Graphic Designer. I use it in a different way than most. I often bring docs in from my other graphics programs.

However, I have the program and books here and I can probably figure it out.
Also I am on a MacIntosh but I can sometimes work through that as I get a PC sometimes at the college.

I think your question is, but am not sure...that you want to put a current presentation into a template or some template. I need to know what template your referring to as there are several in the program. I need to know if your taking current presentation material and just want to drop it into an existing template you did or in the program.

My PM's are almost full.

I got a busy day tommorrow but I can get back here later tonight.

I didn't see this earlier.

I missed this earlier.
Should be very simple though.

If your new presentation is already a pp doc ( which seems to be what you're saying) but you want to put it into your custom template design:

• Open custom template design
• Go to Insert Menu>Slides from File
• Select the file ( your new presentation which is on a sep pp)

This should bring in your layout, headlines, text and images while taking the colors and backgrounds of you current custom template. I've never done this but I tested it on two .ppts here and it worked.

If not...

Might have to do a clumsy workaround (not too difficult though) by opening the presentation you need currently and converting it to a MS Word doc first. The bring this MSWord doc back into your final custom template design:

• Open your new presentation ( the one you want to eventually place into your custom template)
• Go under File Menu> Send to> Microsoft Word
This will open up this pp in a MS Word doc which can be used as an Outline. Then you can use this new MS Word doc to insert back into your custom template. Name it and leave it on your desktop for now.
• Open up custom template design you want for final design or look
• Go Insert Menu> Insert> Slides from Outline
Select new MS word file you made just above


Try the first above as it's the simplest and most direct.

Perhaps because I don't have that command in mine which is PPX or 2000.
Still the insert works well.

your reasoning method is straight forward for normal folks....
I'm sure BD will get it....

but not everyone with a computer could do it.

I tried to explain how 'Inheritence' works with templates to build PP slides back in PP 1996.... build the template the way you want first......
and work from that... Not everyone understood the concept.

Copied Slide shows old/new templates became a nightmare.

I use it quite a bit.

I've got 2003, but I think one of the office pc's still has 2000. If you can't get it figured out, I might be able to have you email me the files and fix it for you.
