Am I the only one that is like, "yeah, whatever" about this season?

For the first time in ever I've been like, "um yeah" about the Chiefs. Usually I would have read every single article, etc, etc but it has been hard. I honestly don't feel like we'll be good and all the years of mediocrity have taken their toll. I have accepted that there's nothing us fans can do about it, but yeah, it's hard to root for losers, but I will always do so, it's just been harder this season so far. Hopefully it'll change next week with the first game and all.

You are not the only one to feel like this. I am definitely not as fired up as years past. I think I am actually looking forward more for the tailgates than the games, for I think we are going to get slaughtered in the majority of our games.*

* Of course by saying this, this means that we awill actually make the Super Bowl this year.

I know what you mean. I'm not getting pissed off at the LJ and Bowe holdouts like I should be. My attitude towards both of these has been "eh, who gives a shit. It's not like these are the worst things that have ever happened to this team." Another part of it, though, is that I trust Herm to work around it and win some games this year, and if he doesn't, make the best of a bad situation, stock up in the draft, and improve by leaps and bounds the year after. This team is certainly in a transitional period and losing is a very probable result. At least for this year.

On the other hand, this team has me wrapped around its finger. I asked myself the other day if I thought Brodie Croyle would come in as the starter and kick ass for years to come, and of course, I said "Hell yeah!" It's just more of the blind pre-season optimism that I and thousands of other Chiefs fans suffer from each summer.

Of course in the end, the only way to know is to wait and find out, and I'm excited. This season will answer a lot of questions about the direction the team is moving in and what exactly we need to become the kind of team that will end this 37-going-on-38 year drought.

Its different this year. That's for sure. But I am still looking forward to it. There are so many question marks this year, I may be just anxious to see what comes out of it all. Additionally, things can change so much from week to week. Take Indy for example, everyone wrote them off because everyone ran all over them, but they played up to the situation. Its possible that KC can pull its head out and get something done. Not expecting it with the youth and playcalling, but it could happen.

I'm not expecting the world, but there is still enough uncertainty to keep this guy excited.

You are where I have been for several seasons. I usually come around when we hit September, even though I tend to remain pessimistic anymore. Nothing is going to really change IMO until Carl is gone. Then there will be hope.

Let us all remember, that in the wonderful Gregorian Calendar, this year ends in an odd number...

My only regret is that I can't make the tailgates and get back to the gameroom before kick-off.

I think we're on the verge of a dominating defense once again. I'm at least excited about that side of the ball. We're back to the mid 90's brand of offense once more as well.
We got spoiled with Vermeil.

Vermeil gave us exciting games, but most ended in heartbreak.

It was fun to watch. You knew they could score 30 or more on any one. You knew they could give up 30 or more just as well.

I have some optimism about some aspects of the team and was pleased with the offseason acquisitions/draft but mostly share your feelings. Just so much uncertainly going into the season that it's hard to have a feel for what this team can or cannot do. Also the holdouts of LJ and Bowe are reducing my cautious optimism by the day.

We got spoiled with Vermeil.
We got spoiled by a soft team that was a direct reflection of it's whineyass bitch coach?

Speak for yourself.

yeah, but this season isn't about our record, for me anyways...for the first time since Marty left we are actually rebuilding this team...for the first time since ??? we are grooming a young QB that we drafted...and we'll probably have the best D since Marty to boot..

I am excited to watch Croyle develop, no matter how rough it is this year. Same for Pollard, Page, Tank, Turk, Smith, Bowe(?!), Hali, and on...

we could easily finish 6-10 by losing a lot close games, but if we end up with a QBOTF it will be worth it...

i thought I might losing interest, but as soon as camp started they sucked me back in...I'm dying to see the young kids play
