Views from around the Sports Nation on KU getting Orange Bowl over MU.

Mike and Mike in the morning - "Both are saying that uk's selection over Mizzou going to the Orange Bowl is purely a joke.

Associated Press - "Never mind that both of Missouri's losses were to Oklahoma, that the Tigers were two slots ahead of Kansas in the final BCS standings and beat the Jayhawks head-to-head on Nov. 24 to doom Kansas' national-title hopes."

Lee Corso - "Did Missouri beat Kansas? Did they beat Illinois? Where are they going?...Something's wrong with the system."

Kirk Herbstreit - "The Orange Bowl committee should be asked a question. Why Kansas over Missouri? They beat Kansas, were 11-1 in their last game and lost to what many say is the best team in the country."

Ivan Maisel - "The Orange Bowl chose Kansas and its 11-1 record over 11-2 Missouri despite the Tigers' defeat of the Jayhawks a week ago. Kansas, like Ohio State, benefited by not playing on Saturday, when Missouri lost to Oklahoma, 38-17."

Rivals.com poll - "The Tigers were left out of the BCS despite beating Kansas head-to-head for the Big 12 North title. Kansas, meanwhile, is going to the Orange Bowl." They're currently leading by a huge margin. http://collegefootball.rivals.com/copoll.asp?poll=69

Blair Kerkhoff - "In other words, Missouri would have profited from declining a spot in the Big 12 title game. Kansas, like Ohio State, gained by not extending its season, and that’s a serious flaw in the process. Risks should be rewarded, not penalized."

MY Fav:

"You can put the Orange Bowl with Kansas on Comedy Central, because it is a joke for them to be there." -- Pat Forde on ESPN this morning

I thought the story summed up the situation.

Aside from that, I am happy two former Big 8 teams had great years. Coulda been greater...but it just didn't happen. Good luck to both in their bowls, and I hope they continue to be strong in the years to come.

KU's SOS is 74 - one ahead of USC. The 109 figure is completely incorrect. Yes, 74 is not a good SOS, but it's hardly 109.

MU got screwed, but am I to be upset that KU is in a BCS bowl? The BCS really needs to be converted to a playoff system.

BTW, Kevin Kietzman doesn't know what he's talking about. I listened to his show today and when asked to provide evidence that Lew Perkins did something wrong to "sell" KU to the Orange Bowl, he said it wouldn't matter because any transgressions would be kept secret anyways. He knows he's been caught in a lie so he's just covering his own ass.

Good luck pinning down an NFL official on why the Broncos weren't penalized for spraying pam on their uniforms, too.

Your posts are getting better and better, and KUnt is a refreshing change from Gayhawk.

If I had anything to do with the BCS Bowl selection or the group of presidents that refuse to change system, I would absolutely be ashamed. And unless there were, you know, facts showing Kansas did something completely unethical or illegal to get into the Orange Bowl, I think I'll go ahead and enjoy the opportunity to watch them play Virginia Tech. While I'm at it, I'll also enjoy watching Mizzou play Arkansas, even if Mizzou deserves more this year.

Happy Holidays.

C'mon, frazod - why would you give credence to something Kevin Kietzman has said without any verification whatsoever? I know you're upset about MU getting snubbed and I don't blame you, but KK has a history of undue sensationalism and loves to hate on KU.

KK just loves starting shitstorms between KU/MU and KU/KSU. Then again, I wouldn't expect less from that tool.

For the handful of you who realize and admit what a horrible injustice was done, I'm sorry. But estrogen-spewing KUnts like Stewie make it impossible not to comment. Read some of the crap throughout this (and other) threads and ask yourself - how would you react?

And I absolutely believe that behind-the-scenes shenanigans were involved. Will it ever come out in the open? Of course not. But Kansas was effectively eliminated from BCS contention the minute Reesing's face was driven into the turf in the Arrowhead endzone, and everybody knows it. Yet there KU is. No reason or excuse has a shred of believability. Something shady happened. It is what it is. Corrupt. Dirty. I could not in good conscience be a part of it.

That which could not be won on the field was stolen behind the scenes.

Are you suggesting that KU fans who recognize that they don't deserve to be there over MU should give up their fandom? Just wondering.

I sure as hell wouldn't be on here comparing KU to OU, bragging about shit that was AT THE LEAST wrongly handed to them and AT THE MOST flat out stolen, that quite simply, utterly and absolutely NOT EARNED BY THEM ON THE FIELD.

Personally, I'd say it sucked, and beyond that, keep quiet.

If somebody handed you the greatest gift you'd ever been given, and later you found out that they stole it from somebody else, would you be proud to display it?
