Eh, maybe. With the lady's arm in the dog's mouth a head shot wouldn't have been smart. The adrenaline that dog was experiencing had to be treamendous. I've made great shots on deer and they keep going on pure adrenaline. Had one that had been wounded, I cranked 3 rounds in the chest through the lungs and heart and the thing still went for another 100 yards before going down. I'd imagine the same thing could happen with the dog.

FWIW, I can't help but wonder what in the world they were doing to the dog to begin with and what his temperment would be prior to having 3 different people yanking on him from different directions.

Yup. Im an avid deer hunter as well and ive had a similar thing happen, its amazing that they keep going after being filled with multiple holes/bullets. Hit a deer in the front shoulder, text book shot, dropped him like a bad habit he got right back up, took off like i missed despite the big patch of tissue missing. Shot it again 2 more times.....still alive, he sat upright but couldnt go anymore. Tried for a head shot but hit too low (took off most of jaw), now he flopped around but still alive, slit throat not once but twice and finally died.

It was like a bad movie or something. Messed up part was: despite being hit, he still continued chasing after the doe he was following right before the bullet. What bucks do for tail.....
