I CAN'T FIGURE OUT THE NAME OF THIS SONG AND IT'S DRIVING ME NUTS
And the worst part is, I can't remember the lyrics, so I can't just search it.
I can hear the voice and the song itself crystal clear, though, and it's driving me crazy that I can't figure out what it is, who it's by, or where I've heard it before. This has been going on for two days. So I figured that the combined knowledge of the fine folks here at ChiefsPlanet might help me narrow it down and find it. Here's what I know: It's not R&B, rap, country, funk, electronica, salsa, jazz, blues or gospel. The lead singer is male. There are backup singers (also male) that figure prominently, and they echo the lead singer a lot. Kinda like this: Lead: Something something something la la la Backup: Laaa laaa laaaaaaa Lead: Something something something doo doo da Backup: Dooo Dooo Daaaaaaaaa It's an upbeat song I'm pretty sure it's about love and I'm pretty sure it's sung "to" somebody. The singer refers to "you". There's an organ part. Or at least I think it's an organ. It's what gives this jaunty song its unique twist that helps it stay stuck in my head. It's not like a churchy organ, and there are no chords. Just a fairly simple note progression, each note is held for a bit, and the sequence gets repeated. For some reason it reminds me of the opening credits theme from Shaun of the Dead: (Also here, can't embed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZmjsWAfn14) I think this is for two reasons: the tempo and beat is very similar to what runs under the song, both for the organ parts and the singing, and the organ in the Shaun of the Dead song sounds like the organ in the song stuck in my head (albeit with shorter notes). --- I know I might seem totally nutso, but I'm desperate to track down this song. Please ask any questions that might help and shoot me any suggestion that even remotely fits my criteria. Some coveted rep is awaiting for whoever can help me find this thing. I will be eternally grateful. ![]() UPDATE: HOLY SHIT Last edited by Thig Lyfe; 09-20-2012 at 01:43 PM.. |

It's nothing that's ever been in a version of Guitar Hero.
It seems like it has to be a fairly recent song, but with an older feel to it. Quote:
Unfortunately, it's not by the Beatles. Really? Not at all? Because that's the exact pattern and number of syllables that each of those lines uses, and that pattern is used quite a bit. I really don't think it's classic rock, nor does it have a famously catchy chorus (because I think I'd be able to hear more of the words if it did). The song has some swing to it. And keep in mind the Shaun of the Dead element, because that's what really reminds me of the song in question (sans the horn). Thanks to those who are helping me, and to those jackasses who are having a laugh, well, fuck you. I could literally go insane if I don't figure this out. LITERALLY. |

The previous poster was correct. This is a lot like getting my wife to pick a restaraunt.

Perhaps it's Bob Dylan. That would explain why you can't remember the lyrics - they were incomprehensible to begin with.

Ah yes, the music playing over the 'J.D. and Elliot do the deed' scene in Scrubs.
Mmmmm, Ellie. BTW, I have a similarly vexing song. Making it worse are two things, I hear it at least once a week as NPR uses it as bed music for several of their nation shows, and it's all instrumental. Like I said, NPR uses it as bed music [ie, background under the tag to a story], it's symphonic light disco in the style of late-70s Quincy Jones [Razzmatazz, You're Gonna Miss Me in the Morning, What's Goin' On, If I Ever Lose This Heaven]. It has sweeping long tones on violin that seque into a short disco rhythm on flute.
