Herm isn't calling plays but he's signing off on gameplans and making suggestions all game long. Vermeil would tell Saunders to run the ball from time to time. Herm begins every series with the words, "OK let's try a run here and see if we can get a few yards."

I'm a big Steelers follower. Watched them since Cowher left to make his NE Chiefs.
A lot of what Chan did is what others copied in Pitt. He'd go 5 wide on first down. He'd run a double WR reverse and then THROW the ball 60 yards down field. His boring "up the center's but" calls were the siren's singing. It's what compelled the defense to suck up so he could go deep. He's all about creating mismatches by playcalling and game situations. That's not, in any way, what we're doing. Infer whatever you want...
