If they make more than minimum wage I generally don't tip unless someone does something that exceeds expectations (I used to be a server so I'm more generous than I should be)... the only exception off the top of my head being pizza delivery. I've seen tip jars at carryout counters, and I'm a little curious to know if they make minimum wage... at some places it seems to be a dedicated job, but at other places I've seen someone put together a carryout order while also serving tables.

In general though, there's a reason why you make $8/hour working at Chipotle. Doing your job, and even doing it well, doesn't warrant a 'bonus'. You get paid to do your job well, you get a bonus if you're exceptional. I think it's funny when people pay $100 for a haircut or tip them $20. I'm not cheap, I'm just much more inclined to be generous to people I know.

Yeah my wife waits tables and does just fine. She'd probably hand you a piece of paper that said, "Here's a tip, lifes too short to be an asshole"

Life's to short to be anything other than what you are.

I'm an asshole, and when I try to be anything other than an asshole, it makes me unhappy.

But just for the record, I tip wait persons, so if your wife served me in a restaurant, she'd get a tip.

I don't put money in tip jar just cause someone behind a counter handed me a couple of donuts, or gave me a cup to fill my coffee, or some other stupid shit like that.

It wasn't a passive-aggressive shot at him by any means, but like I said, there's a reason that it's an $8/hr job. And when you can't even get the bangs right... okay, I'll stop.


But, I'd like to note, I routinely tip at least 20% at restaurants, if not more for good service. Granted, I have my reasons... I was a server in high school and college, and even good tips on a weeknight might not average to much more than $10/hour.... I'm sure people would find that unnecessary.
