If the Chiefs do end up with the # 1 pick..

I hope they take Rey Maualuga, Middle Linebacker, USC.

The Chiefs defense has a lot of young talented players but they do not have an emotional leader on the field.

currently listed as 6'2" 250+ lbs

All the tools (including size), plays in a pro-style offense, and has improved the quality of an otherwise average team. Other than this, nothing.

May have something to do with the way Ryan is playing this year and us being desperate. We tend to be reactionary and one year too late on most things.

I was wrong about Ryan. There, happy now? That's moot though because we got arguably the most "can't miss" talent of the draft judging by most experts. I never disliked Ryan anyway. I just was not sure he was top 5 material. I based it solely on stats and watching him for about half a game. I actually was all excited about this Stafford phenom this year, before the season even started. I must say I have actually watched him with interest for the better part of 3 games, but I'm not very impressed.

Are you more or less impressed with Stafford than you were with Ryan last year?

Do you expect lightening to hit the same spot twice? A lot of people considered Ryan iffy as a top 5 pick.

Based on watching him during games, less. I don't know about his stats though as compared to Ryan's first half-season stats last year.

Not really, especially with the first two.

I'm not going to argue that the draft isn't a science. Teams miss on picks. All the time. But true fans, if this team is going to win, it needs its own franchise QB.

Risk, reward.

Bottom line, many on here won't want the Chiefs to draft ANY QB. It could be mutated version of Elway and Montana and some would be saying, "Yeah but..." "Let's fix the O-line first!" or "We need defense!"

If there's a player worthy of a high first-round grade, KC must take the risk and draft a QB.
I actually want them to draft a QBOTF this year high. I'm just saying using the very first draft choice on someone like Stafford (or even Bradford) does not look like great use of its value. Who knows, he might start setting the world of college football on fire the rest of the way and change my mind.

Thats true. Im hoping this regime will be gone after this year. Even if we draft a QB this year, and say Herm is still here, if one really thinks about it, he could very well possibly play. Which is the scary part. Another reason to think of not having Herm and Carl around next year.

I honestly didn't plan on seeing Thigpen playing this year.
