no .... but running the bootleg immediately cuts the field in half and limits your options.

it also limits the time your QB has to make a decision because general the DE on that side of the field goes unblocked.

you have 3 options

1. QB can just run it

2. QB can throw it to the RB in the flat

3. QB can throw it to the WR/TE a little deeper


btw you have like 2 seconds to make the decision because of the free DE.


i would of much prefer to call a play like we did when we scored the touchdown.

Thigpen can look over the entire field and doesn't have to make a decision until the defense forces him to make a decision.

the Defense has to cover the quick slants, the fades,the fade stop, the run .... everything, which increases your chances.




but like i said .... i'm fine going for it.
