Jason Peter: Hero of the Underworld
Wow...
I'm sure I'm well behind the curve on this story, especially considering he played for Nebraska - but if you haven't heard the story of Jason Peter, you really need to read this book. http://www.amazon.com/Hero-Undergrou...1536124&sr=8-1 I remember his time at Nebraska, playing next to Grant Wistrom and with the Blackshirts defense, but I had no idea that he went through the issues he went through, during and after his time in the NFL. What started as a painkiller addiction turned to: 80 pain pills a DAY. A suicide attempt that included 60 pain pills, 20 Ambien and a bottle of Grey Goose - all taken in a half hour. A cocaine habit so serious the blood vessels in his nose were swollen to the point of blocking his nostrils. Several BUNDLES of heroin a day. There are many packets of heroin that make up a bundle. Freebasing cocaine. Lining up 6, 7, 8 crack pipes and hitting them one right after the other. Before the 5th or 6th time he was to enter rehab, he spent $30K on a private jet, bought TEN eight-balls of cocaine, SEVEN bundles of heroin, and TWO high priced hookers for the flight from NY to California - a final party. How this guy managed to live this way is mind-blowing. The way he came to grips with his addiction and turned his life around is amazing. Here are a couple of Real Sports segments he did while in his final year in rehab: Last edited by OnTheWarpath15; 01-09-2009 at 03:39 PM.. |

He was on the Jim Rome show a couple years ago talking about his painkiller addiction, but I don't recall anything about cocaine, crack and heroin. Apparently he was saving the really ****ed up shit for his book.

He has crazy eyes. He's gonna have to live with that for the rest of his life too. Hopefully he can make a career out of coaching, because that's the only place those crazy eyes are going to be beneficial for him.

And to think that I feel like an addict for taking my pain pills as prescribed and as needed for me to even freakin' move.
But 60 a DAY? Dear sweet lord ... MM ~~

My post is just the tip of the iceberg. The book is like a Hunter S. Thompson read. Dude writes with a biting style, and amazingly honest. |

But it is an outstanding read. I couldn't put it down. Pissed off the wife last night when I was still reading at 1:30am. |

ITs scary. That shit runs in my family. I am so scared to even take any medication at all. I dont want to end up like that. If i get stick i wont even take ****ing Tylenol unless i really really h ave too. I try to not use any kind at all.
I have seen people ruin their lives on drugs. Its pretty freaking crazy what they can do. One of my best friends growing up is a drug addict. He was for years. I tried to help him, but he would always end up going back. After he stole a few bucks off me. i told him and his family i cant do it anymore, he's on his own. I could have beat his ass, but it wouldnt have did a damned thing. I just said to his family, i tried, he's on his own now. I don't mind helping people, but when they start to bring you donw with them and they dont really wan tot be helped, there isn't much you can do. Though, last i heard, he's into god now and has been for a few years. So hopefully he's done because he has burned just about every damned bridge he had with people. |

Drugs is like anything else I guess, some people become easily addicted the addictive personality types and other people can do them put them down and never do them again, you just have to be aware of which type you are before you go doing shit.

You will never understand doing drugs to such a ridiculous level, or just doing drugs in general?
The latter is pretty easy to understand: they make you feel good and they're exciting. Messing around with them a few times can easily lead to relying on them and getting addicted; as the commercials say, no one sets out to be a junkie. |
