Haley played it smart. I really hope, though, that his heart and mind is on the game this weekend and not what's going to happen afterward.

I don't think he played it smart at all. I think playing it smart would be refusing to even talk about the possibility of going anywhere while you're getting a game plan ready for the super bowl. I don't know why he would even answer the question. Say "I'm the OC of the Arizona Cardinals and we're getting ready for a game this Sunday. That's all I'm doing. Next question." I don't think he's doing any positive service to himself or his team by even taking any time to answer the question.

Plus... here's something to think about. I think Pioli wants guys who fully focus on the task at hand and don't feed media frenzys. He's a no talk, get the job done guy. I wonder if he would even want a guy that talks about another job while he's suppossed to be getting ready for a super bowl. I can see Scott looking at Haley's response as a possible indicator that Haley's not his kind of guy.

I doubt he'd be that overanalytical about a guy he has known personally for a decade. Just saying.

You're probably right... but Pioli just strikes me as a no-nonsense business type who will expect the same from his staff. Haley playing into the story at all just doesn't strike me as an attribute Pioli would like. Their prior relationship may be more important though.
