I'm with you bro; this looks like total shit. But you know what? I firmly believe these hires are a MAJOR case of "getting to the party too late".

We HAVE to staff, there's just no getting around it. That said, I'd be VERY surprised if ANY of these guys have more than a 1-year contract.

We know we're not going to the playoffs, but it's a drag to think that our players won't be getting the best the coaching-poole has to offer. I guarantee you that barring an improvement miracle; most of these guys will be replaced for the 2010 season.

My first thought out the door today( ****in' football junkie )was that because of Herm's suckage and the hiring of a whole new house, my original time-table for a playoff run in 2010 was going to have to be bumped-up a year to 2011.
Them's the breaks I guess!
I doubt any of these coaches are brought here for one-year gigs. What might be entirely possible is that the Chiefs don't have a defensive coordinator but one defensive assistant who maybe coordinates the defense for one season until they can hire one next season. After that, I would think that guy would stay on the team in some capacity.

I don't see any of these as panic hires. They're all guys picked straight from the Parcells tree. As positions coaches, these guys are fine. Now, if a guy like Pendergast or Gibbs is expected to be a long-term solution at DC, then I might be concerned. But I don't think either one is that. And as positions coaches, I don't see what people are complaining about--these are guys with tremendous experience, a good coaching tree, who will coach hard-nose defense to this team.
