it is very funny that people are blowing their stacks here about pioli. all he has done so far has been cut some dead weight and bring in a veteran linebacker.

yeah, he's old. so what? are there any leaders on that defense at all? who was the leader last year, Edwards, who played in 7 games and was invisible?

he's a veteran player who can help the young linebackers make the transition to 3-4. not going to waste a bunch of e-rage over it

Again, I'm not advocating signing Lewis.

But if you're giving me a choice between signing Lewis, or trading for Vrabel, and those are my only two choices - give me the better player everytime.
Those aren't the only two choices though. Maybe Vrabel gives us depth at OLB so that we can move DJ inside (where Lewis would play), reducing the need for Curry so that we can draft Sanchez at #3.

They're not operating in a vacuum. Every move has consequences. We're getting an experienced player with multiple championship rings at a low price. He's not going to be expected to start.

I'm not saying he'd refuse to come because he was traded.

But he's no different from Lewis in the regard that he's tasted winning, and isn't going to willingly spend the last two years of his career playing for a bottom feeder.

He went from a solid chance at going out on top, to playing for a rebuilding team, and having all of the leadership responsibilities heaped on him.

I doubt he's doing cartwheels right now.

He's won 3 championships.

How would his career be viewed if the Chiefs went 9-7 next year, won a playoff game, and then went to the Super Bowl the next (his last year)?

Just think about that for a minute.

What's even funnier is that none of us knows what the deal was and if its part of something more or anything yet people have thrown themselves off the bridge already.

Not every LB in a 3-4 has to be a pass rusher to have an impact.

That's actually possible, IMO......but it greatly hinges on how #3 is spent.

Damn right! I have no problem with having a leader on the field with 3 rings for the next two seasons. He will be teacher for our youngsters.
