Chiefs trade 34th pick for Cassel and Vrabel

Chiefs just got Cassel, ON NFLN!

http://www.kcchiefs.com/news/2009/02...with_patriots/

Quote:
The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Saturday that the club has acquired QB Matt Cassel and LB Mike Vrabel from New England in exchange for the Chiefs second-round pick (34th overall) in the 2009 NFL Draft. The agreement is contingent on both players reporting and passing their physicals.

“I have a long history with both players,” said Kansas City Chiefs General Manager Scott Pioli. “Mike and Matt are men that I respect both personally and professionally. I look forward to having them as new members of the Chiefs family.”

If he's a fraud
how would Pioli not know it
unless it's a three way trade

Don't even bother, dude.

This move is strike 3 for Hamas and he'll forever resent Matt Cassel regardless of what he does in KC...

I'm 50/50 on the move and Matt Cassel...I've been on record on this site saying Tom Brady is overrated and that the Patriots would have been a 13 win team with Matt friggin' Cassel running that team when they were 18-1...it turned out they were an 11-5 team...but I truly thought their system was the main reason for their success...

Well guess what...we have that system now and now we're getting two players who know the system pretty well...

I'm willing to have faith in Pioli and his decisions...I'm not a drafturbator and I'm not an armchair GM...these guys were on cloud friggin' 9 when Pioli was hired and now some of them have already given the guy 3 strikes...it's absurd.

Guess we will find out soon enough if Cassel is a 'product of the system.' He still has lots to prove in my opinion. Now, lets go out and get Monroe to have two studs blocking on the ends or get Crabtree so he has another weapon to throw the ball to. I wouldn't mind seeing us go after Houshmandzadeh and then getting Monroe with our 3rd.

No they are not.

They are wishing that we'd have hired someone like Eric DeCosta instead of Pioli.

Of course, I was wishing that before Pioli was hired.

Yay. We give up the #3 overall for a cover backer, a DT who is too goddamned stupid to stay academically eligible, or a left tackle when we already have one.
I have no problem with trading down - hopefully we could get back the second round pick we traded to NE.

My concern as well. I would have almost preferred to swap 1st round picks then to give up the 2nd.

I like this. He's 26 years old, many productive years left.

Best of all, he got a lot better as the year went on last year. By the end of the season he was playing great football.

I hope we didn't give up too much, but I think this is a great move.

Everette Brown, what does this D need more than a pass rusher? He is elite.

All whining aside, any of those three would be a good addition.

IMO Monroe is the best pick of the three; moving Albert to RT.

He played with an ungodly WR tandem.

Other than that, nothing.

Whatever happened to Clark Hunt saying that if we wanted to compete for a championship we had to draft and develop our own franchise quarterback?
