Chiefs trade 34th pick for Cassel and Vrabel

Chiefs just got Cassel, ON NFLN!

http://www.kcchiefs.com/news/2009/02...with_patriots/

Quote:
The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Saturday that the club has acquired QB Matt Cassel and LB Mike Vrabel from New England in exchange for the Chiefs second-round pick (34th overall) in the 2009 NFL Draft. The agreement is contingent on both players reporting and passing their physicals.

“I have a long history with both players,” said Kansas City Chiefs General Manager Scott Pioli. “Mike and Matt are men that I respect both personally and professionally. I look forward to having them as new members of the Chiefs family.”

Peter King reports that the Chiefs send their 2nd round pick only. Is there any one that doesn't like the fact we picked up Mike Vrabel (proven LB leadership) and Matt Cassel (potential solid starting QB) for only a 2nd round pick? That is a helluva steal in my opinion.

Geez, not this shit again. How many 7th rounders were given an opportunity to start?

You don't know the answer to this question because we DON"T KNOW how seventh rounders would fare if they had opportunities to start. WE DON'T KNOW.

#1 offense in the league, 4300+ passing yards, worst defense in the league.

Gee, wonder which of those things kept us from winning a superbowl?

Cassel's arm stength isn't all that much better than Huard's.

Randy Moss was quoted as saying he'll be glad when Brady comes back, because he hasn't been used as effectively because Cassel couldn't make all the throws.

Don't have a link.
Just something I heard on ESPN Radio last week.

That is just effing crazy.

We have to have surrendered a conditional or two... or maybe a player or two as well.

I don't see that as even being an option. If they do that, and he has a big year, they could stand to lose him after just one season. If this deal goes through, I have to think that KC will sign him to a longer term contract...

I can't believe the Pats would give both of those guys up for just a single pick.

can you link me to this rumor? I believe you, I just want to read something on that...because if that really is the case I guess we certainly did make a mistake in the Green trade.

Let's set aside the Vrabel part of the trade. That's not really a significant acquisition in the long term. The Chiefs traded for Trent Green, they gave up a lot for him. They got what, 4 good years out of him, if that? That's not what I'm looking for. The last younger QB I can think of that was traded was Matt Schaub. Again, I don't think there is much of a good history for teams that traded for a QB. Perhaps others can think of better examples.

Bullshit there is go do the history on all of the winning Super Bowl teams turd. 60% of the Super Bowls were won by 1st round QB's. Of the 40% that werent half of that was Montana and Brady. Let that sink in.

NFLN is also reporting it to be a second for both Cassel and Vrabel. Love it.
