Chiefs trade 34th pick for Cassel and Vrabel

Chiefs just got Cassel, ON NFLN!

http://www.kcchiefs.com/news/2009/02...with_patriots/

Quote:
The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Saturday that the club has acquired QB Matt Cassel and LB Mike Vrabel from New England in exchange for the Chiefs second-round pick (34th overall) in the 2009 NFL Draft. The agreement is contingent on both players reporting and passing their physicals.

“I have a long history with both players,” said Kansas City Chiefs General Manager Scott Pioli. “Mike and Matt are men that I respect both personally and professionally. I look forward to having them as new members of the Chiefs family.”

There's a huge difference between playmaker and HOF'er.

You don't trade a HOF talent.

Michael Smith:

"Arizona has the most similar offensive scheme to New England in the league. Charlie Weiss instituted the New England offense and Haley was a Weiss pupil earlier in his career. Cassel will not miss a beat moving to KC."

No, a TE isn't going to stretch the field and make alot of gamebreaking plays. They're not going to put a good team over the top like a Moss or Welker.

But a TE, especially one with Tony G's ability, makes it nearly IMPOSSIBLE for a QB to completely implode. You can never underestimate how much a safety valve like that means to a new QB.
The fact remains, TEs are not all that important to a team's success.
