Chiefs trade 34th pick for Cassel and Vrabel

Chiefs just got Cassel, ON NFLN!

http://www.kcchiefs.com/news/2009/02...with_patriots/

Quote:
The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Saturday that the club has acquired QB Matt Cassel and LB Mike Vrabel from New England in exchange for the Chiefs second-round pick (34th overall) in the 2009 NFL Draft. The agreement is contingent on both players reporting and passing their physicals.

“I have a long history with both players,” said Kansas City Chiefs General Manager Scott Pioli. “Mike and Matt are men that I respect both personally and professionally. I look forward to having them as new members of the Chiefs family.”

Yes, I think I saw MANY noodle arm comments, a couple of "statue" comments, several comparisons to Thigpen (just bigger), etc.

It's pretty sad really.

EDIT:
So, to sum up...

Cassel Attributes
-------------------
Arm strength of a new born babe (slightly better than Huard?)
As mobile as a beached whale
No better than Thigpen

Sanchez Attributes
---------------------
The next Dan Marino
The best QB prospect in half a decade
The best option if we want to go 16-0

Oh, and don't let me forget that ANY QB that played spread in college is a piece of shit, but we should not have passed up on Drew Brees.

If I honestly thought that Pioli thinks Cassel is a better QB prospect than either of those guys, I guess I'd be secure in that knowledge and defer to Pioli. I don't believe that is the case, however.

And for the record, I don't think Todd Haley knows !@#% about how to evaluate QBs. Recognizing that you have one of the most accurate QBs in league history as a backup QB and deciding it may be a good idea to start him hardly wins him rave reviews in my book.
known mediocrity? the guy has played only 1 full season in the NFL. Tom Brady was the starter before he got hurt in the first game, meaning less training as a starter for matt cassel. id say give him like 3 maybe 4 more years to see if he's mediocre.

also, how can you say that haley has no knowledge about QB talent, when the only chance he's ever publicly had was the situation you just mentioned? thats reeruned.

Also, if cassel sucks, dont you think he'd have the balls to bench him for somebody else, like he did with lienart, even though he was making a shit ton of money?

There's no third involved. Just the second.

You know, when Brady went down and given the lack of experience at even the big college level, much less the NFL, I thought he would get eaten alive. Seriously, I thought the Patriots season was over. For for all practical purposes, they were a play-off team, given the 10 and in concept. He is a rookie, really....a total rookie and a more than rusty rookie, sitting for 4 years of college. Seriously, he was very cool considering. Now, GO GET HOUSHMANZADEH!

exactly. i read most of the pages and couldn't find a single valid argument for why they disagree with this move.

in my honest opinion this is a phenomenal move for us.

I was just catching up on this thread...

I just don't understand how you can be in love with Sanchez, but bash getting Cassel for a 2nd rounder.
