Now I realize this is just stats thrown up by ESPN and has nothing to do with the actual Chiefs organization but I thought it was funny that they listed him as a Chief with the #16.

I don't think we will be taking the retired # of Lenny the Cool out for Matt Cassel to wear.

Joe Montana didn't even get considered for that and IIRC he couldn't use #3 either because it was retired as well so he opted for #19 because #3 was college jersy and #16 was his pro jersey with SanFran.

KCChiefs.com has him listed as #0 so I guess it's still up in the air what Cassel will be wearing?

BTW the atricle this was part of was pretty interesting as well

That's what I remember. Lenny was willing to "un-retire" his number temporarily so Joe could wear it, but Joe being the class act that he is refused out of respect.

Not off limits. What has Green won in the way of playoffs or superbowls for the Chiefs that would warrant him getting his number held sacred?

He was just another QB in the long line of QB's after Lenny.
