Cassel or Sanchez?

I realize that we are where we are, but the more I see about Sanchez, the more I'm afraid that a few years down the road, we may look back and realize that we passed up on the franchise guy that we've been looking for. I know that Cassel played ok last year, but is he a franchise guy? ...likely not. Thoughts?

I am not saying that Arm Strength is everying, but Sanchez is a project. And, if I am going to draft a project, I want him to have top five physical talent. Sanchez does not have that.

Look, Sanchez played on a great team, with a great coaching staff. That tends to make guys look better than they are.

I will eat my share of crow if he goes on to be great. But, I imagine a large majority of his supporters will develop amnesia if he doesn't.

Thanks for ironing that out for me. About the only thing that might be an overstatement is that he will be Chad Pennington. He has a better arm that Pennington. I should have said Matt Hasselbeck. That is a better comparison.

I think Sanchez is going to be a bust. But I don't think that Freeman is going to be any good either. Sanchez will be awesome if he goes to a team like the Seahawks and has 2 years to play backup to Matt Hasselbeck (a really, really good veteran QB).

The funny part is that so many of Cassel's detractors claim his success was due to the talent around him. And, then, they totally ignore the fact that Sanchez was probably a bigger beneficiary of the same advantage.

Think about it. In the NFL the separation between the best and the worst isn't that much. The majority of games are one score games. The reality is that games come down to one or two plays.

In college, the great teams are heads and shoulders above everyone else. And, other than USC, there is very little defensive talent coming out of that conference.

You take a guy, surround him with a good offensive line, superior coaching and put him against weak defenses... I imagine he is going to look pretty good.

And, did he play any even remotedly good defenses without at least an extra week of preparation?

It will be interesting to see how he does in the NFL.

There is absolutely no reason that Sanchez can't become just as much a success in the NFL as Leinhert is.

I am not sold on Freeman. I think that Sanchez and Freeman are both benefiting from the fact that thsi year has very few draftable QB's.

To me, it is a toss up between Sanchez and Freeman. The only guy I wanted was Stafford. Considering that I assumed he would be gone, trading for Cassel was the next best option in my opinion.

Cassel and Sanchez remind me of each other in many ways. The difference is that Cassel is a good bit taller.

I think they have similar arms, both are mobile. I think both are bigger guys that can take a pounding, but Sanchez has had injuries in the past two years.

Name me the players on USC's offense that are 1st round picks. Second round picks? 3rd round picks?

Just wait on Leinart. He has looked a lot better when he played. When Warner leaves, I think Leinart is going to be really solid. Plus he has the offense around him to help him.

LOL. 3 out of their top 4 receivers are sophomores though. Top two RB's were also underclassman.
