That is actually a pretty positive and strong endorsement coming from you, I feel better about the pick now.

Maybe the ****ing defense that has sucked for a decade will finally get fixed.

All the pick told me was this team is building toward a pure 3-4 and not some hybrid.

For the hatahs...

“Any time you want to make a trade you have to have a partner to make a trade. If there is no partner to make a trade you can want all you want. There were no partners in this case who wanted to talk about trades. That’s why you have to approach it and be prepared. It’s why you spend the extra time if you’re going to stick and pick; you have to be prepared if there is opportunity for trades, and then calculate into the whole thought process if you’re going to trade back to a certain point. We still better know the rest of the first round and the players we might project. We may have ended up there but we didn’t."

And this too:

On what they liked about Tyson Jackson...

PIOLI: “That he was very strong, very good core strength and a very good long arm move. He has very good body control and very good balance and strength for a guy who’s sub-300 pounds.

HALEY: “Rarely on the ground, very good instincts, has very good football feel.”

PIOLI: “He had very good brute strength in being able to create separation with one hand.”

Did anyone ask Pioli/Haley if the rumors were true that they were trying to deal Dorsey?

Yeah, I'm so old I remember when Ozzie was a Brown. See how upset I was?

Anyway, Mangini and Bill know how to trade down apparently, and Scott does not. I was expecting better. Any mocker (including everyone at ESPN) would have picked TJ and done nothing. Maybe I expected more of a guy I thought was a master of wheeling and dealing. Had CP been here, I would not have expected anything but what happened. Was it so much to hope for something better.

There had to be some better offers out there, but Scott said in an interview I read that you should wait to be called, rather than call someone else. I think that has to be a mistake when you are desperate to trade down because no one on the boards except a LT was worth the #3.

I'd rather reach for a player that I think might be a stud than get my ass reamed in a bad trade.

Move to a 3-4 is probably as good for McBride as it is for anybody.

Any idea what use he could have or is he pretty much just a sunk cost at this point?
