New Yankee Stadium possibly a disaster?

http://insider.espn.go.com/espn/blog...e=olney_buster

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4080195

http://www.accuweather.com/news-weat....asp?#extremes

Interesting articles on ESPN and other sites. Its early, but we may have an explanation for those high-scoring games in New York. Apparently the configuration of the seating may have inadvertantly created some sort of wind tunnel effect blowing to right field. Rival team scouts have sent the word out around baseball that Yankee Stadium now plays more like Coors Field.

That may be exciting for fans, but the Yankees may have screwed themselves with their $1.5 Billion-dollar ballpark. If you want to compete, you do NOT want a hitter's paradise. Good pitchers are rarer and harder to sign as free agents than hitters. You can find a lot of servicable hitters and a few superstar bats every year, but only the best teams have good pitching. If the new stadium plays short, the Yankees could have problems getting free agent pitchers to wear pinstripes. There are plenty of wealthy teams that play in good pitchers parks.

Saw an interesting stat on the MLB channel. Yankee Stadium has had 4 games in which 7 HRs or more have been hit. All of the other parks combined? Only 3.

Pretty crazy.

At one time, I followed baseball closely. Nascar replaced baseball. I have a interest -- but ... I'll go to a couple of games a year -- Football is #1 followed by Nascar.

The reason for this is that people visit New York -- Yankee Stadium is home to some of the most memorable moments in baseball history -- And the new stadium has mirrored the history.

It's such a great place to visit -- it's like a baseball museum. I took my little nephew and two of his friends to a game. They're reaction to the whole experience was priceless.

Outside the stadium entrance, 2009 Yankee player's photo occupy the walls.

These photos were taken before the stadium was completed.

The fix on the ball park should be fairly simple, but not very asthetically pleasing. Its idiotic to think their engineers couldn't have discovered this before. The thing that will never get fixed is the fact that the average fan is now priced out of ever going to the new stadium.

F the yankee's (both the baseball team, and the people). This is bad karma for them for helping ruin baseball. The average fan also made this team what is, and like many other clubs they have gone the wine and cheese rout. The K still remains the best deal out of the 5 major league parks I have been to.

Its not like the Yankees are over here ---------------------->

And everyone else is here --->

If the Yankees dont solve this wind tunnel problem, then the top pitchers will go to Boston, the Mets, the Dodgers, etc. There's plenty of teams with money.

I hate the yankees and I pretty much hate baseball, but I sadly have to admit that their stadium is ****ing sweet... granted they have the history to fill it with, but it is ****ing awesome to look at. Of course it could do without the Barry-Bond-on-roids like wind that blows through there.

Is there an engineer in here that can give us a quick fix? Couldnt they just put up a giant wall behind the center filed opening or something? A giant sail or something to keep wind from escaping as easily... hell, cant trump just donate his toupee's to stitch together and hang back there, nothing wants to go near those things...

A Rod just drilled another Homer out.

7 out of 10 hits have been Homers.

The Yankees play there. That already makes it a disaster.

I love looking at all those empty seats behind home plate....
