Damn good flick and one of my recent favorites but I am a bit of a sci-fi geek. Just try to not let the hype build it up to something unreasonable. If you have a home theater be sure to crank it up because the blu ray has rather good sound with some hard hitting bass. Visuals are also quite nice. |

I just caught the last hour and 20 minutes of the 1958 'Titanic': A Night to Remember. It holds up very well, even stacked up against the 1997 movie, although for understandable reasons, it's not quite as dramatic and exciting. There are some very touching moments though, dealing with human emotions and actions amidst disaster and it is all very nicely paced with the interlocking tension.

Something I haven't seen mentioned about "Sunshine" is the audio. I've got the surround with center channel and sub-woofer and the sound from that movie is like a Rick Wakeman concert, incredible, so besides the visuals the audio is the best I've ever heard in a film. I didn't mind the sci-fi aspect that's been mentioned because the entire premise is sci-fi unless you believe we can send a spaceship to the sun.
Two others I seen mentioned, Passengers was way better than I expected, a strong 7 on the scale. However, the other Anne Hathaway film Rachel Getting Married was way over-hyped, in fact it was one of the most horrible movies I watched last year and my wife and I laughed all the way through the film because it was so over-the-top. |

Watched the blu-ray Director's cut of "Dark City".....for those of you who havent seen it....highly reccomend it....and for fans of the original....the director's cut helps explain a few things without being blatant.
It looks great on blu-ray by the way.

Despite the critical praise I didn't like it at all. Might be that I am outside the target audience but I usually enjoy indy dramas. The combo of slow pacing and a very irritating main character is not one I cared for.
As a side note, it was interesting that the guy from TV on the Radio was the groom. |

Watched Wolverine tonight. I had little expectations and have no frame of reference from the comic books since I don't know anything about them. Thought it was mostly predictable and loaded with clichés but also had some rather entertaining moments. Overall pretty enjoyable action flick.

The Hangover - Very funny. Might be the funniest movie I've seen this year.
Adventureland - A bit jumpy in the storyline, but a decent movie that 40 somethings will relate to and enjoy. I ended up caring abut the characters more than I thought I would midway through the movie.
