The Ultimate Fighter - Jackson/Evans

Not sure what # this is, so I just labeled it Jackson/Evans.

Just started. Cant wait to see how Kimbo does.

In post #130 in this thread TrickyNicky mentioned UFC just signed Petruzelli. He didn't have a link. So I just sort of put two and two together. It makes sense though if this is indeed what transpires.

We all have visions of what could happen if he ever got to go toe to toe with someone.

Sadly, at Kimbo's age I don't think he can learn enough to ever amount to much.

Props to Kimbo for being a man about the whole thing, and props to Dana White for once again giving the fans exactly what they are yearning for. It's why UFC is already one of the biggest things in sports.
Definitely agree with props to Kimbo for the way he's handling everything. That's one of the things that have impressed me most on this season of TUF. I'm not sure why but I always got the vibe before that Kimbo was a bit of an ass. But by all accounts he doesn't really seem that way at all on this show. In fact he seems far from it. Very down to earth, humble, and willing to learn. The exact opposite of what I thought he might be like on this show. So that's definitely a pleasant suprise.

I think MMA is burning me out the way professional wrestling has. I haven't watched the last two seasons of TUF, and I'm having a hard time staying interested now with a UFC PPV every 3-4 weeks. And that's without even thinking of the MMA available in other places. I hope I'm the exception and don't prove to be the rule, and that they aren't risking oversaturating their audience in the next year.

MMA has effectively replaced boxing. It's only going to get bigger.

80% of his coaching should be takedown defense, if he's not on his feet, he's too far behind these guys in ground skill to do squat.

But Rampage's coaching looks like weak-sauce, seems like a really nice guy, but...
Agree on that for ground game/defense work, Belly boy just swung his guard around and pinned the arm down while his belly looked like it was trying to suffocate Kimbo while bitch slapping him in the head.. I say bitch slapping just because they looked like soft hits going to the top of the dome..

Very disappointing fight, but almost everyone knew it was going to go that way..

I don't know. People are predicting 2.5-3 million buys for Mayweather/Pacquiao next year, which is around a million more than UFC 100. They're getting there, but I don't think boxing has been passed yet, not for the biggest fights. We'll see what happens, though, it's definitely growing.

Boxing's problem isn't the main events, it's the shitty undercards. The thing the UFC has going is that there is a single governing body and that body sets who you fight next. In boxing the managers won't let a promising fighter fight anyone else good until they're the main event for fear they might lose. So we get lots of mismatches leading up to the main event. If the main event fails to entertain there's very little chance of the entire event being good.

I'm not a fan of boxing; I can't remember the last fight I saw. On the other hand, I've been watching MMA for years, so don't misunderstand where I'm coming from here - it's the sport I like. The only real problem I see with MMA as a major sport is that there's no offseason, which is what I was alluding to with the oversaturation comment. There are so many events to keep up with, that I'm starting to lose the feeling that any of them actually 'events,' if you get my meaning. It's actually a feeling I've had for 3 or 4 years, it's just getting worse now for some reason. It'll probably pass eventually.

Doesn't this potential Pacquiao vs. Mayweather fight all depend on whether or not Pacquiao defeats Cotto in November? If Cotto beats him wouldn't it set things up for a Mayweather vs. Cotto match instead? That's what I would think anyways.

Wes Sims just got choked out. Rashad is still undefeated, and is making Rampage look very bad.

They teased someone else is getting injured so Kimbo may get another shot.
