Teicher: Sellouts could be problem for Chiefs’ late-season games
Sellouts could be problem for Chiefs’ late-season games
By ADAM TEICHER The Kansas City Star Someday, buying a ticket to a home game might be the only way for Kansas City fans to watch the Chiefs play. That day won’t come Sunday when the Chiefs play the San Diego Chargers at Arrowhead Stadium. Chairman Clark Hunt said Wednesday that the Chiefs will sell enough tickets by the NFL’s deadline today that the game will qualify as a sellout. Hunt said the next home game, on Nov. 22 against Pittsburgh, would also sell out. He was confident the Dec. 6 game against Denver would also be locally televised. The final two home games of the season, Dec. 13 against Buffalo and Dec. 20 against Cleveland, could be in danger, Hunt said. “The ones that have been a challenge for us in recent years have been the December games,” Hunt said. “Denver is traditionally one of our most popular games. Since (Buffalo and Cleveland) are not division rivals or nationally prominent teams, they would logically be the ones we struggle with. “It’s something that we’re going to have to battle. It’s an issue the entire National Football League is having to deal with. I’ve been struck as we go on the road to see so many empty seats in a building where there was never an empty seat — Washington being an example this past week. “It’s something we have our attention on.” |

Don't worry. We'll have The Right 53 people in the stands for those games.

People are going to want to see the Chiefs live when they start improving I bet. This team is going to look much different by December.

The Chiefs are already improving. I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that they are even more improved by the end of the year. By the way, you are full of shit too, you know. Oops! Oops!

I'll be there in December. A lot of people puss out because of the weather more than the opponents. Hopefully we show enough improvement by then for people to get their asses out to the stadium.

I'd have to have a miracle to make it to a game this season, breaking a three year streak for me. But, I might be able to muster some cash and time to get to a December game. I'd like to see Dungver since it's on my birthday, but it's not really in the cards.

I'm going to the Cleveland game in December when I come back to visit the family for Christmas.
I figured: A.) I haven't been to a game since I moved away from KC, I really should make a game B.) They may actually beat Cleveland. C.) I got pretty decent seats for $10, as apparently the Chiefs sucking has priced the NFL back to a poor student. Although at this point the Chiefs should probably just drop tickets by the bundle from a blimp over downtown just to get people to show up.

They won't finish 5-11, but they ARE improving and that's all we can realistically hope for. Especially when you consider that they did no such thing for 3 years under Herm ****ing Edwards - and YOU WERE VERY WRONG about him...But hey, we're all wrong at times, you're just wrong most of the time.

I would love to make it to a couple games this year, but it just isn't in the cards due to family/work issues.
It has nothing to do with W/L record for me, in fact, I want to support this team more, since they got rid of Herm. Wish I was close enough to buy season tickets, and I just may make that happen. |

I'll be there with my best friend (and maybe my cousin) for his first game at Arrowhead for the Browns game. I want to go to the Donko game, but I'll probably have to pick between the Donks & Brownies, in which case it's Cleveland.
Speaking of which, what's the best way to get tickets for the games? I'm hoping that the longer I wait, the cheaper the tickets get because of the team's performance. I've never sat in the lower bowl and would like to for the Browns game... Any advice? |
