Google GPS Navigation...Nice Knowing you Garmin, TomTom, etc.

How cool does this look?

http://www.google.com/mobile/navigat...html#p=default

I really hope this comes to iPhones soon. Otherwise, I may be switching to a Google Android phone like the new Motorola Droid.

I just need to decide if I'm going with the Samsung Moment or HTC Hero. Pros and Cons with each, and I'm really struggling to decide.

Ehh, it will not hurt Garmin too much until they catch up on reliability and get rid of deadzones.. I also think Garmin makes most of its money from airplane systems..

Just about every airplane I fly has a Garmin 430, 530, or 296/396 in the dash.

They are doing just fine.

Incorporating Street View is pretty baller. For a guy like me who relies on landmark references moreso than street names, that would be hugely useful in helping me know where I am.

really? Do you have to have unlimited data plan? I was going to get an IPhone, but the plan had to be $120+ per month if you wanted to use it the way it's intended and that's just too much

You'd need internet wherever you are, so yes. And just about every company is doing data at ~$30/month + regular rates for phone usage.

So far, Google Nav isn't on the iPhone either. Though, I think it ultimately will be. If not, I'm hoping the FCC/SEC/whoever gets involved.

Apple already offers similar GPS capabilities on its iPhone 3GS maps applications, which leverages Google Maps data. However, Vic Gundotra, vice president of engineering at Google, said Google is working to build a version of Google Maps Navigation for the iPhone.

Except for the early termination fee that looks pretty much par for the course for a smart phone.

$15/month for an Exchange account is horseshit. Droid is very very cool, but no way am I paying a monthly fee to access my e-mail account.
