Food Fight!
Since we're on the eve of Thanksgiving, I have a question for the CP:
Seems as if every person has at least one food that they just utterly love, but the majority of people turn their nose up at. What's yours? Here's mine: I love black licorice. It's my favorite candy. I like it even more than chocolate. I grew up on Switzer's Black Licorice from St. Louis. It came in a candy bar rectangular shaped cellophane package, and when it was fresh, it was heavenly. When it was stale, it was like chewing on black rubber insulation. I just found this stuff at my local Walgreen's: http://www.lucky-country.com/ This licorice is GREAT. Just as good, maybe better, than Switzer's. If you like black licorice, try some of this. It's unbelievably good. So, what's your stand on black licorice, and what is your personal favorite "weird food?" |

Hrrmmm...I'd honestly try it once. As long as the texture wasn't totally ****ed and the flavor was good, I don't see why not.

I love gizzards, but can't stand the taste of livers. Just too metallic tasting. Gizzards are just little chewy chunks of fried heaven. Maybe a little bit of the organ taste, but livers are over-kill.

Great topic for Thanksgiving, because I think I'm the only one in my family that likes cranberries, so I end up with the entire can.

Go Chicken Go had the best gizzards anywhere. Haven't had them in years.

They are actually pretty darn good. When I was a kid I would go to work with my dad on Saturdays sometimes. He was an oilfield roustabout and at the end of the day we would hit these little hole in the wall taverns/bars and almost all of them had a big jar of pickled eggs next to a big jar of "hot momma's" hot pickled sausages. Loved 'em both. Not hard to make either.

I recently found Panda brand from Finland. It is the best I have ever eaten. It can be found at World market or The Market in Brookside. My weird food would be artichokes. I could eat them every day. Ang |

black licorice - yuck.
beets - yuck. chicken livers - if they have chopped liver at a salad bar, I'll toss some on the plate. I like having it every so often. Hash - love hash. stuffed artichokes - delicious.

I love black licorice, my favorite so far is the "kookabura" brand.
Most of the people I know in real life would never dare trying sushi, tongue sandwiches, or gefilte fish. Not a fan of liver. It tastes like it what it was designed to do, filter out toxins... Not a fan of beets. Grandma made me eat a bowl of borscht once, yech. Like artichokes in nearly any form, love them pickled on a salad. |

Cranberry sauce is the shit. I pretty much only care about turkey, candied yams and cranberry sauce on Thanksgiving. All the rest is fine, but those are the most important parts to my meal.
