Broncos @ Chiefs ... time for craziness!

I figured I would post this since it's "Broncos/Chiefs" week (or Chiefs/Broncos, whichever you prefer) .

I have no grand visions of an easy win for Denver by any stretch of the imagination. Everyone knows that despite the fact that KC has been down lately and not playing well at home, it's a divisional game... and anything can and typically does happen. Somehow, the Chiefs have a knack for giving the opposing QB hell in games at Arrowhead. The Chiefs would love to win this one, they're playing pretty well at times despite the issues. KC had a huge win two weeks ago at home and played poorly this past week.

Denver shook off the 0-4 streak and won soundly at home vs the Giants. The Broncos need a win to keep pace with the Chargers and to put some distance between them and the other wildcard contenders.

It's not a "must win", but it is a "greatly needed" win for the Broncos... stats are stats and if you look at the numbers, Denver should probably win. I'm sure one of my counterparts (yeah that guy) will be along soon to state why Denver should totally dominate this week... I've been through this rodeo before, so I will continue to temper my enthusiasm with a nice dose of reality.

If Denver plays like they did against the Giants... which is how they played for most of the 6-0 stretch, they will win this game. If the defense has a bad start and if the Oline can't protect Orton, then it's going to be a long day.

So, here's to a fun week of cyber kicking each other in the nards...

Broncos 23
Chiefs 20

Interesting game. Extra few days of rest and a win gives the Broncos some momentum. McDaniels will know how to attack Cassel better than anyone they've played thus far. The Chiefs have arguably the worst defensive line in the league and have the second fewest sacks allowed. Your offensive line has allowed the second most sacks in the league second only to Aaron Rogers. That's a kind of a weird, perfect yin-yang of suckage.

Chiefs receivers stink and the Broncos secondary is pretty good. Chiefs rush defense isn't doing so hot either, but the Broncos are just as average in rushing offense.

The Chiefs on offense are pretty crappy in both departments, and while the Broncos have good numbers, until recently they fell off the wagon, though still hold a top ten scoring and passing D, though our undersized rush defense looks vulnerable.

On special teams we got your old coach Preifer who is full of suck and coaches a unit that is full of penalties, poor returns and is frequently caught with it's pants down. Your special teams is playing out their minds and is really the only unit that is performing.

On paper this matchup favors the Broncos. There are intagibles. Chiefs will be honoring DT. McDaniels knows Cassel. We're coming off a big win, you guys a big loss. We're rested a few days. Chief fans are obsessed with beating us and this is your Super Bowl.

However none of that matters. In December you could be the worst team in the league and we the best and we'd still find a way to lose in Arrowhead. I expect this game to statistically be dominated by my Broncos but more flukey Arrowhead things will happen to cause us to lose. We'll march up and down on you putting up yards, we'll stifle your attack, and we'll even slow down your special teams. It won't matter. Orton will slip in the mud and fumble, your offense will be totally inept all game and then through some miracle your third string TE will pick up a fumble from your own running back and take it to the house as two Bronco defenders run into each other. Cassel will throw a pick right to a DB and they'll drop it or have it ricochet into the Chiefs receivers for a first down . You'll probably win on a last second field goal after Knowshon Moreno fumbles the ball on a poor exchange as we're running out the clock. Tamba Hali falls on it despite being thirty feet from the QB getting no pressure whatsoever to kick the winning field goal.

It's just what I expect in Arrowhead in December. I think we can win, but I don't expect us too. Good luck this week. You'll get it. You always do.

If Larry Johnson can run all over denver, then Charles is going to have 200 yards rushing.

Charles is key. If he can have a better day then he had in San Diego (which was pretty damn good except the fumble) we have a good chance on offense.

Our defense is the only real weak point and it's a home game. Chiefs have a very good chance of upsetting the Donks in Arrowhead.

Anything can happen and no, I'm not typing 'reverse mojo'. I recall Betts having a good game as the Redskins beat Denver... and Denver really should have won that game. I see this as an equal situation... it's a road game, on paper the Broncos should win.

But, Denver hasn't played consistently in all phases of the game this season... it's a divisional game at Arrowhead in December. Yes, I think Denver should and will win, but I'm mentally prepared for anything.
