2009 Kansas City Royals Repository.
All Royals All The Time!

After consultation with others who peruse the game threads we decided to create this as a repository for all things Royals. Minor league news, AL (ahem) Central (thanks Vonne) news and anything Royals can be found here.

alnorth will continue the game threads as usual. But if you locate something of interest.. ANYTHING.. deals on apparel, best ways in/out of the stadium, giveaways, great stories from this season or from seasons gone by, rumors, trades, anything.... feel free to post it here.

If a big story breaks, you can still start a thread about it. There is merely an all inclusive thread that will make a easy for us all to keep up with all things Royals.

The problem with a lot of Royals fans is that they blame the wrong things.

DeJesus, Teahen, and Buck are not the sources of woe for this franchise. All three could be starters on a division winning team.

The problem occurs when they're hitting #1, 3, and 4, respectively, as they have been frequently throughout their tenure in KC.

This is as asinine as when some of the radio talking heads blamed Sweeney for the team sucking ass. Guess what? He wasn't the problem, either.

Felix Pie-OF-Orioles Dec. 8 - 5:10 pm et

According to Bob Dutton of the Kansas City Star, the Royals have interest in Felix Pie but are struggling to fit the Orioles' needs.

Peter Schmuck of the Baltimore Sun reported earlier this week that Pie is drawing "a lot of interest" at the Winter Meetings, so the O's may have their pick of organizations to deal with. Pie, 24, finished the '09 season with a .266/.326/.437 batting line, nine homers and 29 RBI in 252 at-bats.

Milton Bradley-OF-Cubs Dec. 8 - 5:02 pm et

Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times reports the Cubs are close to dealing Milton Bradley to a "surprise" American League team.

The Rays have expressed interest, but a deal with Tampa Bay certainly wouldn't qualify as a "surprise." Bradley, 31, batted a disappointing .257/.378/.397 this season with Chicago and is owed $22 million over the next two years. Wittenmyer's source says the deal could go down "tonight."

Jose Molina-C- Yankees Dec. 8 - 11:28 am et

According to Bob Dutton of the Kansas City Star, a Royals official said the club will "look at" Jose Molina in their search for a starting catcher.
Molina served as Jorge Posada's backup in New York this past season and finished with a .217/.292/.268 batting line, one homer and 11 RBI in 138 at-bats. The 34-year-old should come relatively cheap. Source: Bob Dutton on Twitter

A team like the Royals giving $11 million per year to a DH was a problem.

His injuries every season after they re-signed him was a problem, but not one that they could predict.

He broke down, and it was unfortunate.

But the problem wasn't that they paid, at the time, arguably the best right-handed hitter in the league. The problem was that they didn't put other talent around him.

Saying it was a mismanagement of $$$ is giving too much of a pass to David ****ing Glass.

Yes, pay your best players AND acquire more. If they paid Sweeney AND Damon AND Beltran OR Dye, this wouldn't be an issue. And, yes, the Royals could have done that.

Our "soft ceiling" for acquiring a ML starting catcher is $2 mil. Are you ****ing shitting me?

This is the kind of thing that makes me wonder how idiotic it is to be a Royals fan. Did we or did we not open up a stadium last year that was supposed to generate 90% of the revenue as a new one? And we follow this up with looking to trim the ML payroll?

We couldn't afford John Buck. Let that sink in for a minute. Oh, and while we wait, David and Dayton, promptly go **** yourselves.
