Yes it was, which is why I respect Nick's actions and have been able to forgive him. That bridge was torched but he paid me anyway. I never expected him to come up with a nickel more than the $500 but he did. It doesn't excuse him for everything and it doesn't buy my silence but it enabled me to move on and feel better about Nick as a person.
