The difference between the 08 championship team and the team the last 2 years has been the 4 spot. Arthur was an offensive force down low, the focal point of the offense. The Morrises are no where near what Arthur was, and when they struggle, KU will struggle to put points on the board. Collins and XH can jack 3s all they want, but it has to start in the paint. Aldrich isn't an offensive guy; he makes a living on D, putbacks, and dunks from lob-passes.

Its a loss, Coach Self has said time and time again, it was coming... By his reactions today, he wasnt worried and seemed relieved that it happened...

he knew it was coming because he counts on it coming every year to help motivate his team.

He's already talked about how he doesn't install the full offense/defense until christmas so the team learns the hard way first etc.

as far as i can tell he only has so much to coach the team and doesn't want them to learn it all too soon.

Personally i would rather have him learn something else to coach so they don't peak inside of "throttling" their development.

how about teaching them some zone so that the 3/4 times a year they need it they won't be terrible at it. Or how about teaching them the pick-and-roll so that our offense doesn't running into a brick wall against athletic teams?

bullshit ... KU had no answer against tennessee because Self doesn't coach them with an answer.

his teams tend to have their butt pucker with outside shooting because Self doesn't like to shoot from the outside. So when the team has to shoot they are so nervous they can't.

our offense has so few options because Self doesn't coach many options.


Self is about Defense and offensive Discipline ... that's it.

so when KU runs up against an athletic team the same thing happens over and over again. They go from world killers to drag the game into the mud and hope for the last shot.

This year, last year .... every year is the same.

he's a great guy,good recruiter and good coach

BUT ........ that doesn't mean he's perfect. His X's and O's are pretty average

The team has the same issues every year. If a team has the same problems every year then it's coaching.

Definetly not perfect, agreed there, i probably would be upset about how they lost as well. That said i think he'll come back and hopefully for ku's sake he'll get them on hte right track. Better to have this loss early right?
