I believe this to be true. However, at the end of the day my main job is to provide for my child and give him a chance to be successful. So the problem I have dealing with is time with my child vs financially providing for my child.

IMO the modern-day version of being able to provide is drastically overinflated. I grew up downright poor, I couldn't afford to go to the dentist, I never got nice clothes, and I paid for my first car which was a total beater. But there was food on the table, clothes on my back, and shelter over my head. Plus, my parents never beat me, drank a lot in front of me, or did drugs in front of me.

You'd be surprised how much a child would rather have YOU around than not. When your parents are never there, you start to wonder if they even give a crap, whether you're working for your kid or not. And even when the kid doesn't want you around, tough sh*t. Its not your job to be your son's friend. Its your job to be his parent. And that's a job that can only be done correctly by investing time into it.

Vs. losing your job and possibly custody of your child.
I don’t know your situation or how hard your soon to be ex is pushing the custody thing but now is not the time to go job hopping. A judge wants to see that you have a stable life.
