I can't imagine why a guy who was sacked 42 times this season might be a little apprehensive in the pocket.

Bowe was gone for 4 of those games.
And it's not exactly like he had great protection down the stretch.
Good points, but still valid reasons for concern. Is Matt Cassel a leader? This team needs one bad. He's the most logical, and necessary choice. Can he do it? I hope so.

I'm not sold on Cassel (I thought the contract was premature too), but I'd like to see how he performs with a better setup. He faced some pretty long odds that I think might've frustrated more talented QB's.

I thought he showed some solid leadership qualities over the first half of the season. As it worn on...I think he lost a lot of confidence and pressed way too hard.

I'm not anti Cassel. But I am concerned and I feel I have the right to be. I think Charlie makes him a better QB, and I think he has a better 2010. I question whether he can be a franchise guy, but am hopeful that like so many times before, I'm wrong. And I agree with you, that his leadership regressed as the year wore on. That's a terrible sign.

I missed this earlier.

We have a pretty good idea of how he'll perform with a better setup, because he had it last year - it's likely his peak, statistically.

Solid stats on the surface, that when analyzed further, see that he can't complete passes over 10 yards regularly, even when given the benefit of the best deep threat in the game, and the best possession WR in the game. His entire game revolves on dumping the ball off, and hoping the WR/RB can break it.

And regarding leadership, I disagree. That stunt he pulled with Albert wasn't something a leader does on the field.

With inferior talent... He completed just as many passes over 20+ yards as he had the year prior.

We can agree to disagree. That was but one incident.
