Blind dumb luck

So I had $11 and some change in my bodog account. It's been sitting there for weeks, and I was bored. Turned on TVG and there was one race left for the night on television. I don't bet horses unless I can watch the race, that's the excitement in it.

So, I look at the odds see there's 3 clear favorites (this doesn't mean shit) and just laid down a quinella, exacta, and trifecta and played those 3 horses. Ideally, for me to win all 3 bets I needed it to come in 4/1,1/4,2 preferrably 4,1,2 for odds purposes.

Race came down 4,1,2. Almost $200 for my $11 in tickets. Had I had enough money in there I already had the $350 winning superfecta ticket boxed in on my screen. It was a $4 bet but I decided to play a quinella and exacta instead. I guess I shouldn't bitch.

Have you ever had just a stupid dumb, lucky moment? What happened?

Blind dumb luck ? You tell me.

PLaying a NL Hold em cash table yesterday. Nothing big, just 10 cnt 5 cnt blinds. Everyone has between $2 to $50. I raise pot pre-flop with AQ. One guy calls me. The flop is Kd, Jd, 10c. I check raise the guy $22.00. He calls me (puts us both all in) with a friggin 7c, 4c. He hits the fuggin flush. He didn't hesitate on the call at all either. I've seen that bullshit happen way too many times to put any of my cash at risk. The only money I play online with is what I win in freerolls.

If I were more disciplined, I'd be up way more on Full Tilt but I have the "bang or bust" mentality and it gets me into trouble.

My friend and old roommate Randy makes his living off of poker...and I've watched him go on about 4 $60,000 runs on Full Tilt playing Omaha and 20/40 limit hold'em...so I try and emulate his luck and run into trouble when my specialty is tournament poker.

It's all a part of the process...

I have done really well with football this year...but I also get myself into trouble by betting just to bet on Monday Night Football and it has been my worst night of the year...

I think the games this weekend are going to see me come out a big winner...I love two of the lines (Cards, Cowboys)...more than any line I've seen in the past month (especially the Cards).

I have always wanted to get into it, but never really got the terminology and all that technical stuff. Say I bet $100 on the teasers you were talking about, how much would I stand to make?

Wait, you said 4000 on the year? 4000 in just 16 days? Damn, nice.

the key to my week is Arizona...

For some reason the public is split on the Cards and Saints...on that line the money is even on both sides...which is SHOCKING to me.

I think the Saints are a FRAUD.

I really do think the Cardinals win today.

If that happens, I'm going to have a great week.

I LOVE the Cardinals +7, I LOVE the Cardinals +253...and I especially LOVE the Cardinals +13. I'll be shocked if that line stays at +7 all week.

I also think the Cowboys are going to win...

And I'd pretty much bet my life on the Chargers/Colts to win...but like I said hedging a teaser bet with going both ways on the Colts isn't a bad idea...(-1 Colts and +13 Ravens are probably both winners)...

Uh Oh! Your teasers are shot to hell already. Teasers are a fools bet. Just like parlays.

This happened to me way too often when I played online, (that could be why I haven't played for awhile). Fuggin' donkey s!

What kind of pre-flop raise did you present to this ass-monkey? Did you just triple the blinds?

Just a buck. But on a damn nickel dime table it should have chased off everyone without decent cards let alone him looking at 3 running over cards on my all in. That crap happens way too often for me to trust any online poker site with my cash.

Oh hell, I didn't even realize you were playing a .05/.10 table. Regardless, a buck is a decent raise that should have made all the crap hands fold. He prolly figured since everyone folded ahead of him, he would try his luck. I see that happen a lot.

One of the worst beats of my life came when I was holding K-Q. Some guy called me w/ fuggin' 2-4 offsuit after I tripled the blinds preflop, (starting blinds were at 500 and 1000... keep in mind this was a league game, not online). The flop came K-Q-4, I bet, he called. The turn was a 4, I bet, he called. The river... another fuggin' 4. I thought I was golden w/ my boat, eh, nope. Went all-in, the guy naturally called me w/o hesitation. /sigh

This shit happens, especially when playing for free. But in the league I was in, we played for seats at monthly and quarterly tournaments. If you placed well in the quarterly tournament, you could go to state and play to win a seat at the WSOP. So this was important to many of us in the leaque that were tight, consistant players. But you always have those a-holes that play extremely loose and they chase every fuggin' hand.

GAH! Ok, now I want to play some poker!!

One time when I was young and not really into sports I would always pick up pop bottles and look at the cap. The lid said Duke on it and at the time I had never heard of them so I just tossed it. Yeah they won that year.

I have a friend that always plays 2-4 off suit, no matter what. He thinks it is his good luck charm, and it seems to always work out for him. My circle of friends named the hand after him. The funny thing is, he is a great player. The 2-4 business is irrational, but sometimes irrationality is good, at least in face-to-face games.
