Misc Nashville, TN information please - Page 2

I may be going to the Log and Timber Home Show in Nashville, TN in about a month. I've never been to Nashville before and wondered if there is a preferable area to stay..... or more importantly, is there an area to avoid. The show is at the Nashville Convention Center, but I don't mind driving a ways from the hotel to the convention center. I figure hotels close to the show are filling quickly or the prices may be inflated just because of their proximity to the convention center. Any help would be appreciated. I may end up using priceline or something similar to book the hotel, but just wanted opinions on the city.

well, I can't remember where we stayed but I can tell you they don't think it is funny when you and three of your friends go skinnydipping in their guitar-shaped pool at 8pm on a Sunday.

I will say that, if you get the chance, you should definitely check out the roller derby at the fairgrounds.

WOW...very nice! Is that house being built for a Dr. or someone from the Walton family?

The wife and I have discussed building our dream home once the kids are out of the house. She wants a log cabin house, nothing super fancy, on a nice plot of land about 5 miles from town.

There are actually a few different ones there. But yes, he has some very wealthy clients. He actually did log work for Tom Cruise's home in Telluride back when he used to travel more with his work. He also has some clients who are pretty regular folks. He used to do more turnkey work, but he prefers the timber/log joinery to seeing a house to completion and handling all the subs. As such, he's taken on more fancy schmancy timber framing jobs lately than quaint little cabins in the middle of the woods.

This article is from the guy who originally taught him to build. It's on doing a DIY cabin.
