2010 Kansas City Royals Repository thread

All Royals All The Time!

After consultation with others who peruse the game threads we decided to create this as a repository for all things Royals. Minor league news, AL (ahem) Central (thanks Vonne) news and anything Royals can be found here.

alnorth, me and atleast 5 others will continue the game threads as usual. But if you locate something of interest.. ANYTHING.. deals on apparel, best ways in/out of the stadium, giveaways, great stories from this season or from seasons gone by, rumors, trades, anything.... feel free to post it here.

If a big story breaks, you can still start a thread about it. There is merely an all inclusive thread that will make a easy for us all to keep up with all things Royals.

Welcome! "Grab a Brew... don't cost nuthin"...[spills beer on feet]

Once again, we enter a new Royals Baseball season, and it's a fukcing embarrassment before they play the first game.

Damn. I was encouraged by how many of the projections had us playing reasonably respectable baseball (for KC standards).

I stand by my earlier statements that we should pencil in 100 losses, with the pen close at hand.

Our lineup is ridiculously weak, and if Meche is hurting, our rotation is shit, too. I have zero faith in Bannister, Hochevar, and Davies.

No power in the lineup, not enough starting pitching, and a fukcing idiot for a manager -yeah, 100 losses.

In any other division maybe we do lose over 90 games. However, the thing that makes our division so competitive (the AL Central is pathetic) also makes it difficult for any team to lose 100 games. How does any team (unless they are laughably bad) get beaten up by the Twins, White Sox, Tigers, and Indians?

I'll take "What are the Royals for $100," Alex.

Perfect microcosm of our ineptitude in Tuesday's game:

1 out, Guillen at 3rd and Pena at the plate.

Pena hits a decently-hit grounder. Guillen goes on contact, throw to the plate beats him by 10 yards, so run-down ensues. Cubs retire Guillen quickly.

And, "Oh look!" Pena has strayed too far from first. Throw over, double play. Fundamental Trey can't believe it.

Royals baseball: it all happens here.

100 losses here we come.

*crack of the bat* Denny matthews: Long fly ball way out to center kerry robinson gives it a look...leaps, *confused voice* and the ball landed on the warning track and will be ground rule double. I don't think I have EVER seen a Major League outfielder misjudge a flyball as badly as that.... Ryan Levebre: I've never seen ANYONE misjudge a flyball as badly as that.

LOL@ the Royals:

One of Royals' top prospects quits baseball
By BOB DUTTON
The Kansas City Star

SURPRISE, Ariz. | Left-handed pitcher Danny Duffy, one of the Royals’ top prospects, left camp late Tuesday night after informing club officials that he was quitting baseball.

“Danny informed us (Tuesday) that his desire is to leave baseball at this time to reassess his life priorities,” assistant general manager J.J. Picollo confirmed in a statement released by the club.

“Should Danny decide in the future to return to the game, we will be happy at that time to discuss the possibility.”

Club officials say Duffy’s decision appears unrelated to a recent injury -- a strained left elbow -- that was expected to prevent him from pitching in games until mid-May.

Duffy, 21, is ranked by Baseball America as the eighth-best prospect in the organization after going 19-10 with a 2.49 ERA in 52 games since his selection in the third round of the 2007 draft.

His resume includes an appearance in the 2009 All-Star Futures Game.

Duffy was expected to open the season at Class AA Northwest Arkansas and was generally viewed as the organization’s most-advanced pitching prospect.

The Royals cited Duffy as the pitcher of the year in 2008 at Class A Burlington after he helped the Bees win the Midwest League title by going 6-1 with a 0.99 ERA in his final 11 starts.

Duffy was a Carolina League All-Star last season after going 9-3 with a 2.98 ERA at Class A Wilmington.
