James Richard Clausen: Calling CP GMs

Let's break down his game as if we have him on tape telling fans, presumably, to "shut the **** up."

We need a legit QB. This much is clear. If he's available when the Chiefs pick in round 1, do you pull the trigger?

No bullshit responses like, "Pioli won't do it."

He traded for Cassel--this move speaks for his level of competency. You're in charge. What do you do?

Generally speaking, if you have much, you're not in position to get one of these players.

If a team had a solid O-line, high-quality WRs, etc., this team would probably be 5-11/6-10 and in no position to get a top QB. Luck would have to fall your way: Roethlisberger to Pitts or Cutler to Denver. Luck and foresight, I suppose.

Mallett has a lot of JaMarcus Russell in him...that is a scary proposition.

Actually, Mallett is 5x the athlete Russell ever was. He's still got some maturing to do, but appears to be figuring it out finally. (In case you've forgotten, he was a local kid.)

I'd rather draft Gabbert, and I'm not a Gabbert to the NFL homer. Yet.

I'm not saying he's not a great athlete and he doesn't have a weight problem but he has absolutely awful feet with the giant arm. He is just so wildly inconsistent.

His footwork improved significantly this year. If he continues to progress through next season, he should be a legit NFL prospect.

He's an NFL prospect regardless because of his arm but I consider him boom or bust.

No, I read your post. Your on some good crack if you think Freeman was more developed when he declared than Clausen is now.

This. Thats the reason QBs always are the priority. Whats the old saying? "If you don't have a Franchise QB, you don't pass up on one." Or something of the sort. If you have all in place but the QB youre not likely to get a quality QB do to being back in the draft. Draft a QB, sit him for a year or three while he progresses and you put the pieces surronding him in place.
