Considering that this beer gets a little bit worse by the day, I need to drink my last Pliny the Elder (for now).

Since I split that Pliny with a friend, I rounded out the night with a 2010 Sierra Nevada Bigfoot Barleywine.

Shitty white wine (Bota Box Chardonay).

Shitty? And way more expensive than a world class beer, too. That's some shameful shit.

Well shitty in that it cost 16 bucks for a box, and a box lasts me a week. So, no, not anywhere close to more expensive than a good beer. I'd drink a good beer in a night. That being said, drinking a decent bottle of wine ($12-20) is pretty similar in cost to drinking a really good beer (of the large, single bottle variety). The difference is that a good wine will last my wife and I for a few hours. A good beer like that would last me about 30 minutes.

Drinking a glass of Bogle Merlot. Very good sippin' actually. Less than ten bucks on sale. Worth trying if you are a wine drinker. Bogle Old Vine Zin is pretty good as well and similarly priced.

Speaking of corrections, a 750mL bottle of an Imperial Stout or Barleywine or Tripel or Quadrupel or Belgian Strong Dark Ale would probably not last you onl 30 minutes. I'd wager you and your wife would spend roughly the same amount of time on it as you would that bottle of wine. |

I'm a big fan of Beringer's Founder Cabernet, and that stuff only costs like $10 at most. Two weeks ago, I bought some other type of Cabernet for about $26, and it wasn't nearly as good as Beringer's.

I feel the same way about Bogle which I can find for $10. That is the key to wine IMO. Find what you like. You can find a wine to satisfy your taste at a reasonable price if you check it out. So much of it is marketing...

I'd have to try it. I know back in the day, I'd drink oatmeal stouts and such in 15 minutes or so. I just have the wrong attitude when it comes to beer. I realize this, but it's ingrained after 18 years of drinking the stuff. Beer is for quaffing. Wine is for drinking. Whiskey is for sipping. When I have a beer, my attitude is to drink that shit.
