That's the call from the announcer. Greatfully is not a word and I'm sure he didn't mean gratefully. I had to listen to it about 5 times to make sure I was hearing it right.

Anyways, that will be a call I always remember.

I think he did mean gratefully as in he was grateful to collect the ball and not see it in the back of the goal.

We stay at home and watch the games on early Saturday and Sunday mornings over internet streams because there aren't many games on TV here.

We don't talk about it much except to each other because if we do say something about soccer, we get some redneck in here going on and on about how 1-0 games are boring and soccer sucks.

Holy shit.. I've managed to ignore you thus far but **** off.

There is a strong contingent of soccer fans on this board that post in soccer threads (yes we have them) throughout the year.

A lot of new fans are springing up because the tournament has a natural appeal to sports fans (especially those who are passionate about their country).

Why do people hate on soccer??
its because they do not understand the sport.. and things that people dont understand they hate or stay away from, for the most part. Soccer is just as exciting as any other American sport.. it just does it in its own special way. The feeling when your team scores a much needed goal, in my mind, is just as exciting as your team scoring a TD on a 2 minute drill to win the game..
