2010 Kansas City Royals Repository thread

All Royals All The Time!

After consultation with others who peruse the game threads we decided to create this as a repository for all things Royals. Minor league news, AL (ahem) Central (thanks Vonne) news and anything Royals can be found here.

alnorth, me and atleast 5 others will continue the game threads as usual. But if you locate something of interest.. ANYTHING.. deals on apparel, best ways in/out of the stadium, giveaways, great stories from this season or from seasons gone by, rumors, trades, anything.... feel free to post it here.

If a big story breaks, you can still start a thread about it. There is merely an all inclusive thread that will make a easy for us all to keep up with all things Royals.

As a disinterested opinion, I have a pretty strong feeling that Gordon and Kila are both AAAA players.

The Cardinals faced this 32 year old OF named Hessman this week. Dude had hit 300+ minor league homers. He was a real life Crash Davis. But as much as some of those guys dominate the PCL or the Texas League, they aren't always cut out for the bigs.

That would be the Royals luck, but they might as well try them out for a full year, no reason kila and alex arent starting all next year. Gordon looks pretty crappy

Alex Gordon is the Todd Van Poppel of corner infielders.

I'll agree with you about Gordon but Kila simply hasn't been given a chance at all so it's kind of hard to say that about him.

I just paid $40 for somebody to dub this series on DVD straight from a VHS.

Kila has gotten on base at every single level with ease. Even if he doesn't hit for average, he's going to walk. I have no doubt in my mind if he was an everyday player for us this year he would have the highest OBP on the team, easily. The guy has like 25 more walks than any other dude in AAA. That is just insane. One thing you can always look for in guys that are now successful in the big leagues is their eye.

I'm pretty stoked. I'm headed down to Springfield this weekend to catch the Naturals play the Cards tomorrow night, and I just read that Mike Lamb is starting. I'm excited to see the kid throw.

What I really want (if it exists) is the DVD set of the 1985 ALCS vs the Jays. I have those games on tape that are deteriorating more each day. I'd also kill for the 1980 and 1977 ALCS.

I can't watch '77. Just can't.

But I would have unprotected sex with Courtney Love to have 1980 complete games on DVD.

The trade deadline is at what 3 pm today? If Guillen is not gone, this is bullshit. I don't care if we have to take his salary and get a guy from rookie ball. There is no reason to keep him around.

Honestly, I don't know if there's a market for him. It sounds like he's everybody's absolute last choice if they can't get another hitter, and even then they may not want him.

The real key is what happens after the deadline. Does DM keep playing Guillen thinking he can still pass him thru waivers in August and trade him? Meaning, we STILL block Kila from coming up and getting regular ABs.

Or does DM just say "**** it" and release him? Some GMs might just be banking on that, thinking they don't have to trade for him now if he'll just be cut in a few days.
