Okay this is funny.. My son and I downloaded this movie about 3 months ago and watched it... Nice to see they are on top of things...

Dude, they're signed to Epic. For Epic to have released cover versions, they would have had to file for a mechanical license with the Harry Fox Agency, which handles all licensing in the U.S.

I'm certain that the original composer(s) is being paid correctly.

Wow, the old school music industry must be getting very desperate. I found a story about how ASCAP is looking for royalty fees from bars and coffee houses that have acts that perform cover tunes.

Many of these businesses are barely making ends meat and, rather than pays the fee, are requiring that the musicians play original material only. That might spare you and I from another bad rendition of “Brown Eyed Girl” but it sure as hell makes it tough for new artists to get their feet wet and it really sucks for guys named Corey Koehler who do one hell of a “Horse With No Name.”
