Absolutely. I'm not stating that great music can't be made by players that aren't "great".

I'm stating that there haven't been any new "great players" emerge in the past decade.

Anyone can learn to play guitar, bass or drums. It's easy. For guitar and bass, it's shapes and muscle memory recall. For drums, it's muscle memory and control. You don't need to be a great player to be a great songwriter, all you need to know is how to play.

I never stated that there wasn't great music created this past decade.

I stated that "great players" have gone the way of the dinosaur and that for the most part, due to the severely splintered music business, much of what would possibly be considered great doesn't even enter the realm of mainstream consciousness.

The movie studios aren't handling piracy like the music business did in the 90's. They mean business and will prosecute.
Ask the RIAA about the RoI on the prosecutions, piracy is up sales are down and they've spent $64M on prosecutions to collect about $1.3M in fines. Why not talk up the actually effective measures the movie industry has taken up like speeding up the transition from the theater to DVD release? Or much more aggressive pricing moves compared to the music industry? LOL

You did to say that! Look at this post of yours and what you quote from me: http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showp...&postcount=263

I said there was good music being made. You told me that you disagree with me. It's right there in plain sight.

I should have been more specific, like I was in my prior post.

Although, it's think it's highly unlikely that you'll find many allies in believing that music from this decade in any way rivals the 60's, 70's or 80's.

So what do you suggest, that the RIAA cease going over pirates? No, that's not the answer. That would only encourage more piracy.

I was just too amused that your opening salvo was "HAY GUYS, we're totally suing people way better than the music industry." The movie industry has handled the situation a lot better than them thanks in part to getting to watch them repeatedly screw the pooch and the bandwidth gap keeping most people from pirating movies. I realize there is no one right answer and I hope that anyone that has put some thought into the issue understands that. Its going to be a multitude of actions and its got to be minimizing piracy that is the goal because you aren't going to stop piracy without eliminating personal privacy.

So how do you minimize it? If I had the panacea answer to that question I'd be one rich mofo now wouldn't I? But seriously as a guy that actually buys movies, and tv shows etc. I'd say your industry has handled the situation a lot more adroitly and deserve credit for it. e.g. Hulu and how its been handled is pretty genius.

Edit: FFS though will the movie industry stop it with the unskippable, can't jump to the main menu shit on DVDs etc? Nothing makes me want to go download a copy like that garbage.
