More to the point, there isn't a Led Zeppelin, Who, Eagles, Beatles, Boston, Foreigner, AC/DC, Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Guns 'N' Roses, David Bowie, Eagles, Doobie Brothers, Allmans, Foo Fighters, Journey, Iron Maiden, Kiss, Joe Satriani, Van Halen, Metallica, Pearl Jam, The Cars, The Wallflowers, Yes, ZZ Top or even a Stevie Ray Vaughn spurned from this decade.

It's been lackluster. There are very, very, very few bands and artists that will be around in five years that originated from this decade, let alone 20 years.
I like the killers, but I'm not sure they have much staying power (and I wouldn't put them on that list, ftr).

There were a lot of bands around the beginning of the decade like The Killers, Franz Ferdinand, Panic at the Disco, etc. that captured the imagination of 80's clubbers and some kids as well.

But that's died out because their subsequent albums were weak.

My oldest has become a big fan of Franz Ferdinand and Arctic Monkeys. I don't really care for their music though.

Then it's up to you to introduce them to where they began.

Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, Oingo Boingo, Missing Persons, The Knack, Elvis Costello, Madness, UB40, The Police and especially, early U2.

Although a lot of these "new wave" bands rip off Muse.

I personally can't stand the Freddie Mercury/Opera-style singing but the music is great.

Come to think of it, I don't think he has ever heard a song from Depeche Mode. His only experience with Duran Duran is that of Guitar Hero. The rest I'll have to pull out my CD's a records.

He used to love U2 but now he can't stand them. He is just rebelling against mom and dad though because we love U2.

Then tell him U2 only exists because of Depeche and you HATE Depeche!

You'll do fine.

I must be missing something here. U2 was started before DM.
