Which was a better game, NFL 2k5 or Madden NFL 2005?

Simple question. Which game do you feel was the better product?

2k5 kicked Madden's ass that year. That was the last year I even bother buying football games. Still have 2k5 and occasionally still play it.

I'd say 2k5 was probably the better game, but 05 for Madden was the best up until maybe 09, and franchise mode might still have been better in 05, even though that's pretty sad to say.

Edit: One note, I do not play online with football games, so those kind of glitches I can't comment on, and I probably didn't experience them in any significant way. Money plays and glitching are why I refuse to play football online, there always seems to be some.
$19.99 was the perfect price point too.

my friend was the same way as you dumbass fanboys...

In 2005 I was 19 years old...it was my freshmen year in college and I had no job...

I sat and played Madden all day...my friend Darren worked at GameCrazy and was like..."dude NFL2K5 is way better than Madden!"

So I checked it out...it was laughable...I was like "Darren...come play Madden with me and try to tell me 2K5 is better..."

We played...and then we played some more...and then some more and some more and some more...

and he finally admitted that 2K5 wasn't even in the same ballpark.

All you fanboys are just saying this because you're cheap ****s and bought the game for $19.99 because you couldn't afford Madden...

but hey...

LETS TAP A TO SPRINT!

"Casual" football gamers preferred NFL2K5 because of this...but real football gamers know Madden was better IF ONLY FOR THE ONLINE PLAY...and because of the greatest feature ever...QB Vision (even though all of the casual gamers complained about this, too...because they are too impatient to play it in practice mode and figure it out...made the game SO MUCH MORE REALISTIC)...

but please...

keep trying to tell me 2K5 was better...casual gamers...because it wasn't...and not in any way.

Yeah, the $20 price tag was the only reason we liked it, you are too right.

Ahhh...

Madden 2004 was QB Vision...and then the fanboys cried and made it optional in 2005 (I still used it because I'm not a ****ing pussy little bitch)...HIT STICK was 2005!

This article: http://features.teamxbox.com/xbox/87...n-NFL-2005/p1/

Exactly what I said. THE GAMEPLAY IN MADDEN WAS SO MUCH BETTER AND IT WASN'T EVEN CLOSE. And this is ALL I care about in football games.

These guys gave the graphics, audio, and *somehow* online play nod to 2K5 (I guess I didn't play too much online for such an inferior game)...and gave the two games a tie...

but they voted unanimously that Madden had better gameplay and if that's not the most important thing for you guys...then you're morons...

and Madden franchise mode 2004 was REVOLUTIONARY and SADLY they haven't changed it much since then but when it first came out it was UNBELIEVABLY addicting and fun...and as realistic as a franchise mode has ever been to this date.

We used to play team mode in 2005 and the hit stick was so ****ing cool...

The game play was amazing all the way through the XBOX Original Madden 2008...the next gen sucked ass in 2008 and 2009...but they have righted the ship in 2010 and now in 2011...the game is getting closer to the gameplay in 2008 on the original console...not quite there yet...

but either way...

it's so funny that people think 2K5 is better than Madden 2005...it's the casual gamers...not the ones that spent THEIR WHOLE DEPRESSING LIVES AT THAT TIME playing video games...

Did we all forget that I played so many video games at that point in my life I was #2 in the nation on Tiger Woods 2005 XBOX version????????????????

The qb vision thing was 2006.

Hit stick was 2005 and that is still the best thing to ever happen to video games.

ESPN NFL2k5 is the best football game i've played in the last 7 years, and it was cheap as hell. **** EA, they half ass everything when they can do so much better

I love the presentation of 2k5. The ESPN presentation between games was perfect. But the gameplay of Madden was by far better at that point. It seems like 2ksports has a hard time figuring out a way to make the gameplay stand out and match their efforts of the presentation. With that said, I'd love to see another NFL game out right now. I hate how Madden half asses everything now.

There's always been an element of people who have ripped Madden and always said the other game was better. Just because it's the "hip" thing to do. People used to say that stuff about NFL Gameday in the 90's, and I thought those people were nuts. The 2K series does a pretty good job in several sports though. I don't think Madden really tailed off until the last few years. Madden 04 and 05 were pretty good games. But I only play franchise mode, and try to keep it realistic in terms of game scores, stats, etc. Never been into the online thing.

I honestly miss NFL Gameday. If I could pick any football series to come back it would be Gameday. I didn't play it the last 2 years it was out, because all I cared about at that time was Madden. But gameday was always a good 2nd option. Now, if only a football game could incorporate the ESPN presentation.

I'm one of the 25 percent. Whether Madden half assed 2005 or not, it was way better than 2k5. Tap A for speed??? Terrible. So irrelevant that Madden finally removed the burst button this year.

Keep dreaming. 2k5 had the graphics of Tecmo Bowl.
