Props to Cassel for converting on some key 3rd downs

If you're going to pile on when he ****s up you gotta credit him when he plays well. Our run game was dominant, but I'm stoked Cassel was able to complete some key third down passes when the game was still close.

confidence is such a big deal with Cassel

when he is unsure or worried about the pass rush his throws pretty much turn to shit.

I believe that is what Weis is trying to do ... protect Cassel so much that he gets confident enough to be able to handle a complete offense. Hopefully by the end of the year Weis will know whether or not Cassel is worth keeping around and then the chiefs will act accordingly.

just like Sanchez in new york, a QB who's numbers are inflated because he is protected to the nth degree.

by the end of the year, Cassel needs to take the diapers off and step up or get out.

Yep, that protection is ALL it is. My absolute favorite pile of CP horseshit.

Umm wait a second...Sanchez's numbers are inflated?

Correct me if I am wrong but aren't Cassel's numbers better?

Let me put this as succinctly as I possibly can; stat-lines and numbers are NOTHING compared to the guy who can read the field, choose from multiple targets quickly, and get the ****ing ball to them, thereby keeping the drive alive.

But, thanks for playing.

stop crying bitch ... i never said that protection is ALL it is

there wasn't a QB alive that has been more protected in the last 2 years than Sanchez. He's a rookie so it's not unexpected.

Dam crying sanchez lovers pitch a fit anytime someone breathes sanchez's name without the appropriate smell of sanchez cum on their lips.

This year the chiefs are in max protect mode for Cassel too.

Hopefully it's only a temporary situation or Cassel needs to get the boot.

If the stats were leaning the other way they would be worn out from overuse by you guys.

Sanchize's stats are meaningless to the Chiefs, they don't help us win or lose.

Cassel's do seem to have some relevance to the team though.

Wait so you first agree his numbers are inflated and now you also argue that numbers don't mean anything?

You seem confused.

Cassel is improving.

He's getting the ball out, and giving his receivers a chance to make catches and make plays.

But the fact is, he played poorly in the Indy game, a game we could have won with even mediocre QB play, he made a piss poor pass on a play which could have sealed the win against the Texans, and he was outplayed in the first half yesterday by a guy that was on the farm just a few days ago.

So, I'm not ready to give him much in the way of props just yet.
He still has a lot of work.

But, on a side note, Tribal Warfare is an idiot.

Yeah, Mr. milkman ... one could make the argument that Cassel has already cost us two games ... or, at least, contributed mightily to those losses ...

He is about as inconsistent as they come, but that's what makes him such an exciting player ... you never know what's going to happen or where the ball is going to wind up. Cassel is a whole lot like a catapult on a catamaran ... or Fa-Va-Rah playing in a wind storm.

Long story short:

When Cassel's inadequacies are brought up in the face of a win, certain posters like to get all smarmy and say something stupid about Sanchez, never mind the fact that his game has already surpassed Cassel's in terms of not being held by the ****ing hand and the guy can read multiple targets and then CHOOSE one and usually complete the ****ing pass, but some people need to feel better and are simply not capable of choosing a better target for their rationalizations these days.

Hope that helps, Mr. FAX.

Ah ... okay. Yes, that makes sense. I was having some difficulty following along, there.

This whole "read" and "progressions" and "looking off defenders" stuff is, apparently, a very serious problem for Cassel ... you're right about that. It has to be one of two things, though ...

Either he is instructed by Weis and Haley to take the first option on every pass and, if it's not available, throw the ball away ...

or ...

He just doesn't have the ability and/or the patience to stand in the pocket and go through progressions.

It seems as though, in every game, he misses the open man (or doesn't see him at all) and tries to force the ball into coverage. Of course, defenses are keying on his eyes ... that much is obvious ... which is one of the main reasons he's throwing to blanketed receivers. Then, there's the problem with his delivery ... it's agonizingly slow. His mechanics are reminiscent of wading through 5 feet of Bass-o-Matic sauce.

We need to either get Cassel to step up his game or we need to find us another guy. I'm 100% sure that Haley would like to have a guy who can accurately put the ball in the air ... deep.
