Cassel just had one of the shittiest first halves ever.

All he did was dump the ****ing ball off.

His QB rating is 95.3.

Henceforth, any defense of Cassel using the QB rating statistic will be completely ignored and ridiculed.

This has been a public service announcement.

The thing is...that argument makes no sense. You say that he's limited with Cassel at QB...well then why would he have Cassel pass in those situations?

This is not one of his best games. But he did what he had to do in the end to set up his team to win. Good Job Matt!

Sure. And it would have been even better if he hadn't been terrible for the vast majority of the game, including the final two minutes of regulation.

He's a poor QB, but this isn't anything new.

This. I didn't see your post earlier sorry. Wish I quoted it before because I said pretty much what you said.

Of course it would have been better if he didn't suck ass for the majority of the game.

But, he did make plays in overtime and ran the 2 minute drill very effectively at the end of that game.

The second 2-minute drill, after shitting the bed at the end of regulation, which well could have cost us the game.

Look, Cassel sucks. But I think the fact that this game was close falls at the feet of the coaching staff. Don't ask Cassel to convert on 3rd and short, repeatedly, when the run game is kicking ass. Don't go away from the run in OT when Charles and Jones are abusing the Bills. And, mothe****, take the ****ing points (or at least try to) early.

He led us to a win? I think jcs 177 had more to do with winning than cassels lighting it up for 38 passing yards.

And don't throw the ball on second down, putting your offense in a third and long position.

We should just have Bowe out on routes and blocking downfield and put everyone else in blocking for the running game...the only players Cassel throws to are Moeaki and Bowe anyway.

Even if you put it on the coaching staff, the problem is still Cassel. If he can't execute those plays, then they need to acquire a QB that can. And I will always find it difficult to fault the call when the quarterback misses wide open receivers. That's execution. The play worked. The turd behind center didn't.

(And I would suggest that one benefit of doing those passing plays is that it actually does help the running game, even if they don't succeed. We do NOT want to be even more one dimensional than we already are in our play calling.)

So whats your solution right now? Mid season? What do you suggest we do about the QB situation?

Cassel is a backup QB who can somewhat manage a game. What we need, is a starting QB who can zip the ball all over the field. I know Cassel had a "decent" game from a numbers standpoint, but in his case, the numbers dont tell the whole story.

I still feel like we have a back up QB playing as our starter. I will give him kudos on the last drive, where was that at all game though? We rushed for 274 yards for christ sakes! It doesnt get much easier than that for a QB, yet he didnt take lead for much of the game like we needed him to...

Vick for 2011.

You mean like Sanchize?

Quote:
The Jets wasted another impressive defensive performance and we learned their quarterback Mark Sanchez might not be quite as far along as we thought. Gang Green shut down a good Packers passing offense and gave their offense plenty of opportunities. But the whole unit made too many mistakes and Sanchez, who finished 16-of-38 for 256 yards, isn't quite the kind of quarterback who can lift the offense up when it is struggling.
No ****ing thanks.
