Gravy

At the start of the season, I believe the majority here was thinking 6-8 wins. We are 10-6 AND in the playoffs. I know we have rival fans being rival fans and saying we are one and done yet again. You know what? I'm okay with that. Of course I hope for a win tomorrow, and I actually think we will do better than a lot of people are saying we will. I'm just saying that, even if we do lose, this year has already been a huge success. Anything beyond 8 wins, to me, is gravy. I am really looking forward to next year.

Funny how you conveniently forgot a few parts of the OP. I'm done with this topic though. You are entitled to your opinion.

either. And the reason I left it out at first is because it was just the preamble to her actual point.

Raven is carrion so I'd definitely want to clean it out by feeding it corn for a few days. Once I snapped it's neck, I'd peel back the skin to defeather, clean out the guts, discard the head, feet and wing tips, cut it into halves and soak in a brine for twelve hours. Pull it out of the brine, rinse and pat dry with paper towels. Since we are going for gravy, I'm going to pan fry 'em. I'll bread them with flour mixed with salt, black pepper, cayenne, paprika, thyme, and garlic powder. I'm going to fry in a few tablespoons of shortening. Cook evenly on all sides. After we pull the birds out we're ready to make gravy.

If there is too much remaining fat, pour off the excess. Add enough flour to soak up the fat. Cook for a minute or two to get the flour taste out. Add milk slowly stirring into the flour mixture as you go. Heat through until thickened and bubbly, stirring constantly. Season to taste. Pour over the bird or mashed taters.

This is basically what I was going to say.... the fans have the benefit of looking back on the season right now, and saying it was a success, there's a lot of progress, etc. If I had more control over the game than being 1/78000 screaming fans, of course I wouldn't be reminiscing, I'd be preparing to beat the Ravens.

If the Chiefs lose Sunday or next weekend or whatever, the basic thoughts in luv's OP is exactly what will be posted 1000 times, and she's exactly right. This season has already been a success, and calling it a failure if they lose tomorrow is ridiculous.

I think people are saying that if we lose it wouldn't hurt like when we knew we had a great super bowl team and got screwed in the playoffs. Simply because we had a season that gave us much more then we had hoped for. Clark Hunt, Pioli, and Haley are delivering on their promise. If we lose ok, we can live with it. We believe in the team again and are confident it will improve to a point to where we truly excpect to win play off games.

You all say it so much better than I do. I can see where my OP comes across as defeatist. I tend to be passive when giving my opinion about anything football related, because I usually stick my foot in my mouth. I'm excited about tomorrow's game.

The only way I'd leave Arrowhead tomorrow really pissed is if they give the same effort as last week and get their asses handed to them, especially since I've spent all week reading "what if they have a repeat of the Raiders game?" and telling people that line of thinking is fickle and asinine.

Yeah, even if that happens, it doesn't mean the plan isn't working, and we can all sit around talking about the 41-0 Jets/Colts game the entire offseason... but after $120 tickets + $22 parking + $20 food + $100 UA (that I needed anyway), the least I should expect is the best game plan and effort of the season. There's nothing wrong with this team giving their best effort and losing.

Eh, the part on being okay with being one and done yet again comes off the wrong way, but it's not like this team had anything to do with the other one-and-dones... yeah, it's frustrating. It's been frustrating for 16 years, but it's not like this regime can be blamed for any of it leading up to tomorrow.
