Fescoe: Haley took playcalling away from Weis in 2nd Half

Just got a 610 text that says Fescoe is reporting that Haley took playcalling away from Weis in the 2nd half yesterday. That could explain why the playcalling was so horrific in the 2nd half, and if true I think Haley should be in some hot water. That was some of the worst playcalling I have ever seen in my entire life.

I agree that Crennel has a soft defense that needs to get a lot better... but I'm willing to give him at least another year to get his shit together.

Weis was so bad, he didn't deserve another year.

The NFL is a weird deal. You get 16 games and that's it. Hiring the wrong OC could be far worse for the team in the long run than allowing Haley to run things until the right guy is available.

If Haley running the offense causes anything even remotely similar to Haley's management of game situations in 2009, it should be a capital offense to even suggest it.

Also said that the reason Jamaal Charles doesn't get many carries is because Pioli and Haley have problems with guys drafted by Carl Peterson and Herm Edwards.

Here is the link. It is in Part 2 of PFT live so just fast forward through the first segment and then click on the Whitlock interview at the end. http://hqplayer.nbcsports.com/Player.html?PID=44
OMG, where to start. How about the thing about Herm players. Then perhaps dipshitlock would like to explain why Flowers, Hali, etc. are starters.

I don't believe for a second that there aren't numerous potentially qualified and gifted candidates, some whom we've speculated about and some whom we aren't particularly familiar with.

I'm of the mindset that being an NFL HC is simply too big of a job to try to be an OC, too, which is, on its own, a ridiculously demanding position.

'09-Haley was one of the worst HCs I can remember witnessing (speaking strictly about his game management). FAR worse than Herm. 4-7-37. Never forget. I do not want to revert back to this wasteland.

Shoot me, then.

Because I'd rather see Haley run the offense than hire somebody whose offensive philosophy doesn't match his.

I hope they can find someone who fits the bill because I think Haley needs to HC and not HC/OC. Still, if the choice is between Haley running the offense and spending a year trying to squeeze a square peg into Cassel's anus, I'd have to choose the former.

Haley's offensive philosophy is so unusual, so unique, that there isn't a single qualified person in all the land capable of serving as his OC? Is this what we're to believe?

Or is it that Haley is so adamant about calling the plays that he doesn't want to relinquish control?

Which seems more likely?

You forgot. It was 4-7-27.

And lets not forget the Castille pass to Cassel to kill a promising drive in SD.

Marching down the field.....and......done.

Worse!!! 4-7-27.

Apparently I would need heavy sedation and to be regressed to remember this travesty in full detail.

I have no disagreement with any of that. I'm not advocating that Haley run the offense and call plays. Just to be clear.

I'm merely responding to his press conference comments. There may be a candidate out there who "fits" with whom we can make a deal and there may not.

If, however, people think that the worst thing that could happen is for Haley to call plays, I say, "Stick an opossum in your ear.", because hiring the wrong guy at this stage of the rebuild could be far more damaging to our progress.

My only qualm is the notion that a poor hire would be "far more damaging" because Haley hiring himself would qualify as a "poor hire."

Thus both would be equally damaging.

And, sorry, Haley needs to check his ego just a bit here.

well Charles played the majority of the offensive snaps...

Jones played very limitedly...so it was evident the staff knew he was broken down...

He needs to be off the team...

My Crennel analysis is probably heat of the moment but I was disappointed to say the least with our preseason scheme against the Ravens...who are not a potent offense...especially when, outside of A meaningless run, we shut their running game totally down.

Flacco didn't have to make a tough throw...underneath routes and crossing routes were wide open...flats...wide open...

It was sickening.
