Rod Woodson To The Raiders- New CB's Coach
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=6121835
Rod Woodson joins Raiders staffEmail Print Comments2 Associated Press ALAMEDA, Calif. -- The Oakland Raiders added a Hall of Famer to their coaching staff, hiring Rod Woodson on Monday as an assistant to coach the team's cornerbacks. Woodson was one of the most accomplished defensive backs ever to play the game and was named to the NFL's 75th Anniversary Team. He played the final two of his 17 seasons with the Raiders, helping the team win the 2002 AFC championship. AFC West blog ESPN.com's Bill Williamson writes about all things AFC West in his division blog. • Blog network: NFL Nation "It's an honor to be back with the Raiders and be able to talk to Raider players about true football," Woodson said. "I'm looking forward to working with the organization and the challenges of the 2011 season." Woodson had recently served as a television analyst at the NFL Network and Big Ten Network but decided to get into coaching. Woodson spent the bulk of his playing career with Pittsburgh, starring for 10 seasons on the Steelers. He was named AP Defensive Player of the Year for Pittsburgh in 1993 and helped the Steelers reach the Super Bowl following the 1995 season. He also spent one season with the San Francisco 49ers and four with Baltimore, winning the Super Bowl with the Ravens following the 2000 season. Woodson was named to 11 Pro Bowls, the 1990s all-decade team and was named a first-team All-Pro six times as either a cornerback, safety or kick returner. "I'm excited that we have a Hall of Fame player who is coming back to the organization," coach Hue Jackson said. "I was extremely impressed during the interview process with his communication skills and I'm looking forward to Rod imparting his wealth of knowledge to our players." Woodson's 71 career interceptions rank third all-time in NFL history. He is the career leader in interception returns for touchdowns (12), and interception return yardage (1,483). The Raiders still have not announced who their defensive coordinator will be next season. Chuck Bresnahan and Kevin Ross are both on staff listed as defensive assistants without any position responsibilities and could be candidates. |

I was totally impressed with Rod's HOF speech, I sat through it since I was there for DT's induction that night in Canton. And I've always thought pretty highly of his game. I mean 71 picks! Wow. But now..... You are the ENEMY Mr. Woodson! Die and eat Shit dirt bag!

Wow, so this is what Quiefs fans are really like. They wish death upon former players' families that join their rivals organization. What a joke go **** yourself OP. And if Rod Woodson is starting at the bottom by joining our staff, I'd love to know what it'd be called if he was starting in KC, considering we waxed that Quiefs ass twice this season. Not to mention Arrowhead has basically been our 2nd home field in recent years. And please don't humor me with all of your "WERE THE BEST TEAM WE WON THE DIVISION" garbage. You went 10-6 with probably the easiest schedule in NFL history in the past decade. We were the best team in the division and everyone knows it.

Also, Nnamdi was leaning towards staying with the Raiders. This move should cement that decision to stay considering Rod was a mentor to Nnam during his first year and he greatly attributes him to his success.
So have fun getting to continue to play against the best corner in the NFL two games a year for the foreseeable future! |

![]() I love how cocky and arrogant the hicks are on this website, though. It's quite funny. It's going to be oh-so comical watching the Chiefs play next year with a first place schedule. I guarantee the Chiefs won't win more then 6 games next year. This year they feasted on a bunch of scrub NFC West teams, but when they played a real team, like the Raiders, Chargers, Ravens, they got their asses handed to them like the frauds they are. The Raiders will sweep the Chiefs against next year, too, so get ready Hicks! All the best! |

You lost to the 9ers, the Titans, the Cards, the Jags. All teams that the Chiefs beat. If your team had any discipline and focus, they won have won a couple of those games. But, as is the Raiders way, they didn't have that focus.
